As a gamer with a deep-rooted passion for fashion and a soft spot for Asian aesthetics, I must say that MITHRIDATE’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection stole my heart at this year’s London Fashion Week. With Demon Zhang’s creative direction echoing the vibrancy of Southwest China’s Flower Kingdom, it feels like a breath of fresh air in the fashion world.
The Chinese fashion brand MITHRIDATE has been added to the London Fashion Week schedule and will hold its inaugural event with a significant homage to its Asian heritage. Designer Demon Zhang acknowledges her origin in Southwest China by referencing the region’s rich artistic culture, crafting a “Flower Kingdom” on the catwalk as a tribute.
In Spring and Summer of 2025, MITHRIDATE presents a lively and vivid collection called “MITHRIDATE Blooms.” This collection draws inspiration from the bustling city-wide flower trading industry in Yunnan. The clothing items are adorned with numerous spherical pom-pom decorations that bring an explosion of color to the collection, symbolizing MITHRIDATE’s admiration for the beauty found in outdoor spaces. Zhang showcases her community and pays homage to family traditions through eye-catching prints, patterns, and intricate embroidery techniques.
In the initial glance, MITHRIDATE displayed a newfound maturity through geometric silhouettes adorned with floral beadwork. The collection was rich in texture, presented on formal wear with ruffles and transparent windows. Traditional Chinese formalwear was reinvented with fringed dresses featuring lace detailing, while the capsule gowns, spherical accessories, and butterfly motifs mirrored MITHRIDATE’s vibrant seasonal vibe. For SS25, tie-dye patterns were the ruling trend, as they decorated flaming bomber jackets, slashed tops, and tailored suits in a blend of pink, purple, red, and orange shades.
