Dennis Quaid mentioned that he knows numerous individuals whose homes have been destroyed by the ongoing wildfires ravaging various districts of Los Angeles.

On a Friday, The Substance actor was intercepted by NBC4 Los Angeles while leaving his Brentwood residence during an evacuation, and he shared insights about how the destruction affected those around him personally.

Initially, Quaid awoke to find a “column of smoke” on Tuesday. He went on to describe how the flames had approached his house by just 150 yards, but fortunately, individuals flying planes dropped retardant on the spot. Moreover, he couldn’t help but praise the helicopter pilots for their incredible bravery and skills, and he expressed his deep admiration for the local firefighters and first responders. On Tuesday morning, Quaid was awoken by a “smokestack” in the distance. As the day progressed, he realized that the fire had moved ominously close to his house, coming within 150 yards of it. To his relief, some brave pilots flew planes overhead and dropped retardant on the flames. Helicopter pilots and local firefighters were nothing short of amazing in their quick response, and Quaid couldn’t stop praising them. He expressed his deep gratitude for these heroes who put their lives on the line to protect our community.)

He mentioned that they’ve been particularly fortunate during the recent period, with him, his wife Laura Savoie, and their kids included.

Quaid clarified, his voice trembling, ‘I have numerous friends who have sadly suffered the loss of their homes.’ For instance, my agent has unfortunately lost not one but two houses, while another dear friend residing in Palisades had just moved into a new house and was renting out another. Unfortunately, he too lost both properties.

He wondered, “How do you go about rebuilding?” It’s a process that involves contemplating the time it takes to construct a house, which is difficult to fully grasp.

Later on, the actor from The Parent Trap was queried about his thoughts on how Hollywood might appear when it unites to react and reconstruct once the fires have been put out.

Quaid said, ‘All the local businesses – the dry cleaners, grocery stores, gardeners, construction workers, convenience stores, gas stations, and more – are like stars in Hollywood. Everyone wants to be part of this community because it’s special. When we work together, I know we can achieve great things.’

He remarked, “We’re giving it our all to protect our city. Honestly, I wouldn’t have imagined saying this, but that’s the current situation.

Over the past few days, numerous homes, businesses, and structures have been devastated by wildfires that ignited on Tuesday in Pacific Palisades. These flames subsequently moved into sections of Malibu and Santa Monica during the night. Emergency responders have been putting in long hours to control the Palisades Fire, as well as other wildfires that have sprung up across Los Angeles County, such as the Eaton, Hurst, and Kenneth fires. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office reported on Friday that the number of fatalities has reached 11 people.

Among the many people who’ve lost their homes to the fires, a significant number are well-known personalities. Many of them have used social media to express the destruction they see in their local areas and neighborhoods.

By Saturday afternoon, the Kenneth Fire had been controlled to 80%, while the Palisades Fire close to the coastline stood at 11% containment. The Eaton Fire was reported at 15% containment, and the Hurst Fire, located south of Santa Clarita, was under control at 77%.
