The scheduled release period for Disney’s upcoming musical comedy “Descendants 5” has been revealed, and fans can look forward to it without much delay. The follow-up to the 2024 film “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” or “Descendants 4,” was announced in February 2025. Similarly titled “Descendants 5” or “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” will make its debut simultaneously on Disney+ and the Disney Channel.
Disney announces Descendants 5’s release date window for 2026
Disney has revealed that the much-loved musical comedy, Descendants 5, is set for release in summer 2026.
A recent report by Laughing Place revealed that an update was made during Disney’s Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour in San Diego, California on July 17, 2025. This tour, which featured cast members from both the Descendants and ZOMBIES films, saw them unite for a series of live performances. The announcement was made during this event.
Furthermore, the fifth installment will continue the storyline following the events depicted in the fourth Descendants film, “Descendants: The Rise of Red”. Back in February, Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis confirmed the return of the Descendants series. She expressed that the overwhelming affection and remarkable reception towards “Descendants: The Rise of Red” led to the creation of a fifth part. She emphasized that this demonstrated the strong investment fans have in these characters.
In other words, Davis claimed that Disney aims to uphold the tradition of these films and offer even greater enchantment, melody, and emotion that makes the Descendants series unique. Furthermore, she expressed that this series has garnered widespread admiration from fans globally.
The Descendants series is designed for children aged 6 to 11 and tweens between 9 and 14. Actresses Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall will reprise their roles as Princess Chloe (Cinderella’s daughter) and Princess Red (the Queen of Hearts’ daughter).
