Desmin Borges Comedy ‘Hangdog’ Lands at Good Deed (Exclusive)

As a movie buff with a soft spot for heartwarming comedies, I can’t help but feel thrilled about the upcoming release of “Hangdog.” Having had my fair share of anxious moments trying to retrieve a lost pet (thankfully, no stolen dogs yet!), I can relate to the story’s protagonist, Walt. The cast seems perfect, with Desmin Borges and Kelly O’Sullivan bringing their unique charm to this Portland, Maine-set tale.

Good Deed Entertainment has secured global distribution rights for the comedic film titled “Hangdog,” which features Desmin Borges and Kelly O’Sullivan in leading roles.

Movie director Matt Cascella’s long-awaited film is set to debut digitally on October 25th, with a limited run of preliminary theater screenings in chosen cities prior to the release. Joining the talented cast are Barbara Rosenblat, Steve Coulter, Catherine Curtin, and the remarkable canine performer, Mr. Tibbs.

The story unfolds in the city of Portland, Maine, where the movie Hangdog revolves around a man named Walt (Borges). He’s battling anxiety as he tries to track down his stolen dog, all while waiting for his girlfriend, Wendy (O’Sullivan), to return from her business trip.

The movie won audience accolades at both the Woods Hole and New Hampshire Film Fests. Additionally, it was showcased at the Provincetown International Film Fest, the Berkshire International Film Fest, as well as the Calgary International Film Fest.

Under the direction of Cascella, the movie was made based on a screenplay penned by Jen Cordery. Alongside Cascella, Borges, Alyssa Roehrenbeck, and Patrick White all played producer roles in this production.

As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that Matt and Jen have masterfully created an enchanting film for adults titled “Hangdog“. It’s an honor to contribute to the process of sharing this heartwarming crowd-pleaser with audiences across the country this coming October. Erik Donley, head of acquisitions and distribution at GDE, expressed this sentiment in a statement.

In this arrangement, it was Jamieson Shea from Owl Tree Productions who managed the deal on behalf of the filmmakers, and it was Donley who handled the negotiations from the perspective of the distributor.

Following a heartwarming response at film festivals for our comedy that explores humanist themes related to anxiety and connections (including those between humans and dogs), we’re thrilled to collaborate with GDE, a studio known for supporting independent filmmakers, to broaden the reach of Hangdog, as expressed in a joint statement by Cascella and Cordery.

Borges discusses his current fascination with “Only Murders in the Building” and has previously been a part of “You’re the Worst”. Meanwhile, O’Sullivan’s latest projects encompass “Ghostlight” and “Cha Cha Real Smooth”.
