Destiny 2 Just Beat Fortnite For 2024's Most Bizarre Crossover

As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say, Bungie has really outdone themselves this time! The Magical Girl and Street Fighter collaborations for Destiny 2 are truly a game-changer.

In a departure from the usual, Destiny 2 is venturing into uncharted territory with its latest collaborations, the Magical Girl and Street Fighter collections, which may catch even seasoned Guardians off guard.

Bungie has commenced the new Episode titled “Revenant,” which serves as a sequel to “Echoes.” In turn, “Echoes” was associated with “The Final Shape,” the DLC that concluded the epic narrative known as the Light and Darkness Saga, a storyline that the developers have been crafting for more than ten years.

Of course, following the latest update, data miners have unearthed some future content hidden within the game, revealing collaborations between Capcom’s Street Fighter series and a Magical Girl theme set known as Doki Doki.

Currently, Capcom is focusing on collaborative endeavors. In the second season of Street Fighter 6, SNK’s Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui will be introduced, while Ken Masters and Chun-Li from Street Fighter will be sent over as guest characters. Both figures are set to make an appearance in Fatal Fury 2: City of the Wolves.

The content unveiled by JpDeathBlade features three Ghost Shells modeled after Cammy, Ryu, and Chun-Li, along with three finisher moves based on famous franchise techniques: the Hadoken, Lightning Kick, and Spinning Bird Kick. Furthermore, players can acquire a Blanka mask suitable for all character classes and earn a special title titled “World Warrior.

Unfortunately for Street Fighter enthusiasts, it appears that no armor details have been leaked, suggesting that this collaboration might not include any themed sets, which is somewhat disheartening.

However, it turns out there’s more to it than you might think. In addition to what was already discovered, another collection called Doki Doki has surfaced. But don’t jump to conclusions about Destiny 2 receiving armor based on Natsuki or Monika. The name derives from a frequent sound symbolism in Japanese media for portraying the heartbeat, and the actual sets are more reminiscent of Sailor Moon characters instead.

Though you may find these collaborations odd, there’s a solid reason for their existence. Despite a decrease in global appeal, Destiny 2 remains somewhat well-liked in Japan. When it first came out, the game ranked highly on Japanese charts as early as 2017 and has managed to retain a loyal fanbase since then.

Currently, Street Fighter 6 is experiencing a surge in popularity. Not only is it selling exceptionally well according to Capcom’s standards, but esports tournaments have revitalized the franchise to levels reminiscent of its glory days during Street Fighter II, consistently filling large arenas to capacity.
