As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent battling the dark forces of the cosmos, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and concern as Destiny 2’s Solstice event approaches yet again. On one hand, the thought of donning those shiny, high-stat Solstice armor pieces, complete with their exploration-themed designs, gets my heart racing. But on the other, the recent news about layoffs at Bungie has me a bit down.
The annual Solstice event in Destiny 2 has become a tradition, however, it’s challenging to fully appreciate the game’s progression following the latest news about job cuts at developer Bungie.
It’s expected that there won’t be a Bungie blog post this week about the upcoming event, but rest assured, we have details about the event such as its start date, activities, and potential rewards. We will keep you updated as we gather more information.
Destiny 2 Solstice 2024 start date
Solstice will kick off on August 6, meaning it’ll arrive at weekly reset on this coming Tuesday.
The approximate starting time is around 6 PM British Summer Time, or 10 AM Pacific Daylight Time, or 1 PM Eastern Daylight Time. Please be aware that there may be delays due to server queues and potential CAT errors while the update is being deployed to additional players.
What to expect from Solstice 2024
Although Bungie has not disclosed many details regarding this year’s event, it has generally adhered to a similar format since 2018, even though it was once known as Solstice of Heroes.
As an avid player, I find myself engaged in a quest to vanquish foes hailing from the four dominant enemy clans, for it’s through their defeat that I acquire orbs to place upon the pyre – the larger the pyre, the more substantial my reward. This reward takes the form of transformed Silver Leaves into Silver Ash, as I strive to make progress in this captivating journey.
After that, Silver Ash can be utilized to enhance the Solstice armor, which typically comes with strong attributes. This means it’s a perfect moment to gather armor suited for your particular build.
After the Final Shape, things have changed a bit. Can we expect the Dread among the Solstice foes? Will it be the Prismatic weapon that metes out vengeance against the enemies of the Vanguard? We’ll discover the answer shortly.
It’s also worth remembering that Solstice is an ideal place to farm kills you need for any weapon catalysts since there are plenty of enemies in the arena.
Solstice 2024 rewards
We have some idea of the rewards we might get, up to a certain extent. As for weapons in Solstice, we haven’t received confirmation if any will be provided (last year we received the Crowning Duologue), but we do have a peek at the armor sets for each class.
Each is inspired by a theme of exploration, giving them a sort of old-timey, leather-like feel.
