The young Dexter Morgan’s transformation into a serial killer will continue into a second season.
The television series “Dexter: Original Sin,” which was recently renewed by Paramount+ With Showtime for a second season, wrapped up its initial 10-episode run in February. The writers’ room for the upcoming season is already gearing up to start working, with Clyde Phillips once more taking on the role of showrunner.
In the debut season of Original Sin, the story unfolds in 1991 and revolves around Dexter, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, who embarks on his initial murder spree under the watchful eye of his father, Harry, played by Christian Slater. Simultaneously, Dexter holds down a job as an intern at the Miami Metro Police Department.
As I navigated through the captivating world of “Dexter” this season, I found myself uncovering hidden treasures and delving into the roots of familiar elements from the original series. It’s like a thrilling Easter egg hunt, as creator Clyde Phillips hinted to The Hollywood Reporter. There’s a buzz on the internet about the subtle references we’ve been planting, and why they matter. It’s not just intriguing, but also exciting because this season is nestled within a larger timeframe. We’re leveraging the vivid imagery of the ’90s and even the ’70s for Dexter’s backstory, while also incorporating the nostalgic charm of Harry’s storyline. From rotary phones to car phones, we’re sprinkling in delightful details from the past that fans can’t help but notice. It’s a joyride watching everyone discover these little time capsules!
In the first season, Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Patrick Dempsey were among those who appeared as stars.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement! The climactic end of the season, unveiled back in February, has skillfully paved the way for more thrilling adventures to come. Meanwhile, the mastermind behind the scenes, Phillips, is diligently working on the fresh spinoff series within our beloved franchise, Dexter: Resurrection. This new chapter will once again feature Hall’s captivating portrayal and is slated for a summer premiere. Can’t wait to jump back into this gripping world!
Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios are responsible for the production of “Dexter: Original Sin.” In the first season, Mickelson served as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Michael Lehmann held the role of directing executive producer. Robert Lloyd Lewis is the current producer.
