In writing the final episode of [New Blood], a record-breaking Showtime hit, the internet erupted in excitement due to their deep affection for Dexter and Michael C. Hall. At that time, I considered placing ads with the message: “I only had Michael C. Hall for one year.” During our work on New Blood, I only had him for a single year. I didn’t want his character to end up in prison or vanish mysteriously, as some might have expected from the finale, so I chose to take a daring approach. Unfortunately, this decision was met with widespread disapproval online.

In the final episode, titled “Sins of the Father,” Dexter prompted Harrison to end his life, aiming to halt the violent legacy they shared.
