Diana Ross Steals the 2025 Met Gala Spotlight With Jaw-Dropping Return After 22 Years

As soon as the red carpet at the Met Gala began, Diana Ross made her grand entrance, causing a pause in traffic from all sides, allowing the media and photographers to fully appreciate the spectacle.

The music icon, making her first appearance since 2003 at this event, donned a stunning white gown adorned with crystals and a cape trimmed with feathers, along with a hat that turned heads. The gown’s train was so expansive it needed the assistance of six helpers to place it properly on the red carpet, much like Rihanna’s grand entrance at the 2015 Met Gala. One of those assistants helping with the train just happened to be Evan Ross, the actor who is also the son of Ross.

Indeed, Ross attributed her attendance at the steps of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art to her son’s encouragement. She explained to La La Anthony during their Vogue live stream that he persuaded her, saying, “Mom, you need to go.

Inquired about the grouping, Ross referred to it as a “familiar wedding dress” and disclosed that it bore the names of all her children and grandchildren, neatly embroidered on it.

Every year, the Met Gala functions as the main fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s event is a celebration of the Costume Institute’s spring fashion exhibition, titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which takes inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” The theme for the evening, provided as a guide for interpreting the dress code, is “Tailored for you.” Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour from Vogue, and LeBron James (who had to withdraw at the last minute due to a knee injury) are the co-chairs for 2025.
