Did you know Aamir Khan didn’t let his daughter Ira watch Ghajini? Here's why

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Bollywood dynamics, I must say that Aamir Khan’s parenting approach is both intriguing and commendable. His decision to shield his daughter Ira Khan from his intense film “Ghajini” reflects a deep understanding of the impact films can have on young minds. It’s not often we see such a celebrated star taking extra precautions to ensure their child maintains an innocent outlook.

Among Aamir Khan’s many beloved films in Bollywood, Ghajini stands out as one of the most notable. Over time, this film has earned a special status and is now considered something of a cult classic. Despite its widespread acclaim, Aamir himself chose not to let his daughter Ira watch it. Here’s the explanation for his decision.

Aamir Khan enjoys a lovely relationship with his daughter Ira Khan. Despite this warm father-daughter connection, Aamir has shown a certain vigilance regarding the type of content that Ira engages with. In a previous interview, when asked if she watches all of her dad’s films and her thoughts on him as an actor, Ira was consulted about these matters.

She mentioned that she enjoys most of his movies, except for Ghajini, which she was not allowed to watch by his father.

Aamir, seated beside her, expresses disapproval by saying, “It’s too violent,” implying that someone else might not have approved. However, Ira corrects him, reminding him that it was actually his decision not to allow it. Aamir acknowledges this, admitting, “Yes, that sounds like something I would do.”

Reflecting more on her father’s work, Ira said, “It’s exciting. He’s awesome, and he sure knows how to impress (smiles). He always does something amazing.”

In a 2019 interview with The Asian Age, Ira mentioned that she was forbidden from watching the movie Ghajini as she was still quite young at the time. After the film Lagaan, she confessed that she had seen every movie made by her father, except Ghajini.

She mentioned that as a child, she wasn’t permitted to view his movies due to her age. However, after watching “Lagaan”, she proceeded to catch up on all his films with the exception of “Ghajini” because her father warned her that it might scare her. Additionally, she missed out on “Fanaa” for the same reason.

In 2008, I had the pleasure of being associated with the release of a captivating film titled Ghajini, which featured Aamir Khan in the lead role. This masterpiece was skillfully directed by the talented A.R. Murugadoss and boasted an impressive cast that included Asin as the leading lady, Pradeep Singh Rawat, Jiah Khan, Sunil Grover, among others, who all played significant roles.

The thrilling action-packed tale follows the life of wealthy businessman Sanjay Singhania. A chain of incidents causes him to develop a memory problem, limiting his recollection to only the last quarter-hour. Marked with reminders inked on his skin, he embarks on a mission to uncover the identity of his fiancée’s murderer.
