As a lifestyle expert who has closely observed the intricacies of Bollywood for decades, I must say that Aamir Khan stands out as a true master of his craft. His dedication to perfection and meticulous attention to detail is unparalleled, as evidenced by the 10-hour discussion he had about the cap in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin. It’s fascinating how such a small detail can have such a profound impact on the success of a film, much like how Dev Anand’s red hat in Jewel Thief started a trend, but only according to popular misconception.
Known as the meticulous one in Bollywood, Aamir Khan, most recently seen in Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), prioritizes quality over quantity when choosing film roles. He typically works on just one project per year and is often referred to as Mr. Perfectionist. His dedication to detail is well-documented, with Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin being a shining example. Not too long ago, director Mahesh Bhatt disclosed that it took Aamir an entire 10 hours to decide on the style of his cap in their 1991 film.
During the latest interview with Radio Nasha, Mahesh Bhatt was asked to share the story behind Aamir Khan’s iconic cap in Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin. Bhatt shared that he decided on the look of his white cap in 10 hours.
Aamir spent ten hours discussing the design of his cap, and in the end, the cap was finalized. Bhatt remarked, “When a film succeeds, its wardrobe follows suit,” he continued.
Speaking about the impact Aamir’s cap had when it was first released, Bhatt gave an instance of Dev Anand sporting a red hat in Jewel Thief, and clarified that it’s simply a misunderstanding.
In addition to his argument, the director mentioned the iconic late singer KL Saigal, whose distinctive hairstyle was often emulated by fans in previous times. To reinforce his point, he noted that audiences worldwide have a history of mimicking film legends.
In a recent showing of his project, Laapataa Ladies, at the Supreme Court, Aamir Khan announced his intention to remain actively involved in work until he turns 70 years old.
In simpler terms during the COVID-19 pandemic, the actor portraying Laal Singh Chaddha revealed that he made a choice to work when he was 56 years old. He mentioned that he is approaching the end of his career and intends to work for another 15 years or so.
Aamir clarified that he intends to stick with his plan of making one movie a year, as well as producing films to nurture upcoming talent by supporting their ventures. He mentioned that due to time constraints, he might not star in every film he produces.
Aamir emphasized his goal to serve as a launching pad for emerging artists via his production projects. He plans to support around four to five movies annually, he mentioned further. Notably, Laapaataa Ladies was a joint production between Aamir and his ex-wife Kiran Rao, who also helmed the direction of the 2023 film.
Returning to the romantic comedy “Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin,” it featured Pooja Bhatt, an actress who is the daughter of director Mahesh Bhatt, as the main character. In this film, Aamir Khan played her romantic interest on screen.
The onscreen chemistry between characters in Bhatt’s movie Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin was positively appreciated by viewers, as it was modeled after the 1934 Hollywood film It Happened One Night.
In terms of professional engagements, Aamir Khan will next appear in a movie titled Sitare Zameen Par. Notably, this marks his reunion with his Taare Zameen Par co-star Darsheel Safary after an interval of 17 years. Additionally, Genelia Deshmukh plays a pivotal role in the film as well.
In 2023, it was announced that a sports drama will hit screens, inspired by the Spanish movie “Champions” from 2018. This film is set to premiere on Christmas day, specifically December 25, 2024. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao are teaming up as co-producers for the film titled “Sitare Zameen Par”. The project will be directed by R S Prasanna.
