During an interview with ETimes, filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani discussed the original name of the movie PK, which was initially titled “Tully”. However, he found the title too informal, and thus, they changed it to PK.

In the movie, the filmmaker explained that wherever Aamir Khan’s character went, people would refer to him as PK. This nickname stuck in situations like at the police station and the temple, where they would ask, “Pi ke hai kya?” (Are you drunk?). According to Hirani, this led the character to believe that his name was actually PK because he was seen as ‘drunk’ due to the strange things he was saying.
