As a lifestyle expert with an eye for the extraordinary, I must commend Bobby Deol on his remarkable transformation and the unique flair he brought to the character of Abrar in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. The viral dance move, Jamal Kudu, is not just a testament to his acting prowess but also a reflection of his rich life experiences, particularly those spent as a child in Punjab.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movie “Animal” has become a massive hit, with Bobby Deol receiving critical acclaim for his portrayal of the antagonist. His iconic dance move from Jamal Kudu, known as Jamal Kudu Dance, has been a hot topic of conversation. In a recent interview, Bobby revealed that he drew inspiration for this viral step from his childhood experiences in Punjab, where he observed men balancing glasses and bottles on their heads while dancing to music at night. This memory served as the foundation for the iconic dance move that has since become one of the film’s most memorable scenes.
During an interview with The Indian Express, Bobby Deol shared memories of filming a dance routine for the movie Animal. At first, he expressed apprehension about dancing alongside a choreographer, confessing that he instead began improvising his movements. However, the director interjected, expressing a desire not for his typical style but for the character Abrar to have a distinctive, unique dance style of its own.
Bobby found himself unsure about how to proceed, so he sought guidance from Saurabh Sachdeva, who played his brother on-screen. As Saurabh provided advice, an idea sparked within Bobby – and just like that, memories from different stages of his life flooded back, resulting in a significant breakthrough in his dance routine.
He mentioned, “During both summer and winter breaks as a kid, I would travel to Punjab. At night, the men would have drinks and all of a sudden, music would start playing, prompting them to dance using their glasses and bottles as makeshift instruments.” Drawing from these recollections, Bobby decided to give it a go himself.
Previously performing it numerous times without expecting any fuss, he found himself in an astonishing situation when his unique style went viral. All it took was balancing a glass on his head while dancing, and suddenly, that particular move became incredibly popular. He could only describe the experience as nothing less than extraordinary.
In the movie “Animal”, Bobby Deol brilliantly played a silent role, offering an intense portrayal of a villain even with minimal screentime. Moreover, his impressive physical build and distinctive dancing style were topics of conversation among viewers.
Simultaneously, the movie, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, showcased actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, and Anil Kapoor in significant parts. Notably, the follow-up to this film, titled “Animal Park,” has already been announced, and Ranbir Kapoor himself has disclosed that it will grow into a trilogy.
