Esha Deol is preparing for the upcoming movie release titled Tumko Meri Kasam, which is helmed by Vikram Bhatt and slated to hit theaters on March 21st. This will mark her return to acting after an absence of 14 years. Interestingly, she shared a story about how her father Dharmendra taught her swimming unconventionally – he used to throw her into a tube well at age 11!
Over a conversation with News 18, Esha Deol recalled an unforgettable incident from her childhood where she learned to swim. At the age of 11, she hadn’t yet grasped this skill, and a day at their farmhouse unexpectedly turned into a swimming lesson. Her father, Dharmendra, sensing this, took action. In a sudden move, he lifted her up and threw her straight into a well.
The actress remembered him asking, “Haven’t you learned swimming yet?” To which she replied, “No, dad.” In response, he lifted her and tossed her into the tubewell.
Initially frightened, she wrestled with uncertainty, only to discover later on that she was buoyed up. In an instant, she was engaging in swimming for the first time ever. What started as an unexpected shock transformed into a triumphant moment, demonstrating that sometimes the most unusual teachings yield the deepest impressions!
Esha too looked back on the enjoyable swimming sprees that child stars experienced during the 1980s. She remembered how a pool at a hotel in Mumbai’s Juhu district would be teeming with familiar figures: Luv Sinha, Kush Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, and sisters Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor. Since they were all growing up during the same time period, they had similar daily routines and pastimes, which made those moments even more precious.
Following our playtime in the bustling swimming pool, the good times didn’t stop there. Instead, we were rewarded with delightful post-swim snacks such as icy cold coffee milkshakes and perfectly crispy French fries.
In terms of her career, Esha Deol is ready to make a return to the silver screen after a 14-year hiatus with Tumko Meri Kasam, a movie helmed by Vikram Bhatt. This upcoming drama, inspired by the life of Dr. Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira IVF, features an impressive ensemble cast including Adah Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Ishwak Singh. Esha’s highly anticipated comeback, following Tell Me O Kkhuda in 2011, is set for a theatrical premiere this coming Friday, March 21, 2025.
