As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I must say that Zoya Akhtar’s recent reminiscing about her childhood memories at the Galaxy Apartment with Salman Khan brings back nostalgic feelings. It’s fascinating to see these industry titans reflect on their shared past and create something new together.
Zoya Akhtar is presently marketing her forthcoming documentary series titled “Angry Young Men: The Salim-Javed Story.” In this project, she collaborates with her brother Farhan Akhtar and megastar Salman Khan for financing. When asked about her encounter with the Bollywood Superstar, the filmmaker described it as enjoyable and reflected on her childhood recollections from the Galaxy Apartment.
In a recent conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the Gully Boy director spoke at length that she visited Salman Khan’s house (Galaxy Apartment) with her brother Farhan, and it was such a good feeling to be back there where they grew up and have lots of memories. “It was fun, we were in his (Salman Khan) lawn and had some tea, all his nephews were around. It was a nice feeling to be back at Galaxy because we grew up there and played in that garden,” said Zoya Akhtar.
In highlighting their discussion with Salman Khan as a focal point, the director of Dil Dhadakne Do disclosed that Salman was candid about his past experiences and they covered a wide range of topics. Moreover, she mentioned that due to Salman being older than both her and Farhan, he has a wealth of knowledge about the successes of Salim-Javed and has valuable insights to share.
Despite having directed numerous movies with diverse casts and earning a spot in the hearts of viewers, Zoya has yet to collaborate with Salman Khan as both director and actor. When asked about potentially directing Salman Khan in a film, Zoya expressed excitement at the prospect, describing it as an appealing and tantalizing opportunity. However, she acknowledged that Salman is such a massive star, she needs to discover a compelling script that caters to his vast fanbase, appeals to him personally, and fulfills her creative aspirations.
For those not in the know, Zoya Akhtar, Salman Khan, and Farhan Akhtar are collaborating to produce a three-part documentary series called Angry Young Men. This project falls under their production houses: Tiger Baby, Salman Khan Films, and Excel Entertainment. Directed by Namrata Rao, the series will debut on Prime Video on August 20. The series delves into the lives of the influential screenwriting duo, Salim-Javed, who significantly shaped Indian cinema during the 1970s and 1980s.
