In simple terms, “They (Kareena and Diljit) seemed to be my constant companions, tagging along wherever I went. Despite Kareena being a renowned star, she often stayed behind me, watching. Similarly, Diljit never took a seat when asked, even in the most diverse shooting locations. Instead, they chose to stand by and actively participate,” he clarified.

Chaubey commended the actress who portrayed the character in Crew for seamlessly adapting to her role. He noted that this actress is a veteran in Bollywood, hailing from the original Kapoor family in the industry. This meant that she had an innate sense of the type of movie she was working on and how to deliver a convincing performance. As an example, he pointed out that whether it’s a light-hearted comedy directed by David Dhawan or an intense drama, she knows exactly how to shape herself accordingly.

Intriguingly, Kareena took on the role of Dr. Preet in the film, partnering with the actor who portrayed Amar Singh Chamika, a cop in the movie, to combat drug abuse within the state. Notably, the director stated that Kareena refused to use makeup to embody the authenticity demanded for her part. At times, Abhishek had to step in and ask her to apply a minimal amount of makeup instead.

The filmmaker also emphasized the selection process for the character of Sartaj, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh. He pointed out that they initially intended to choose a tall Punjabi man with a deep voice for this role, but Diljit was not as physically described. However, Chaubey stated, “We chose Diljit because he’s an exceptional actor and truly embodies the character of a Sardar, even though he didn’t exactly fit our initial physical image.
