As an ardent follower of Bollywood, I find myself deeply moved by the journey of Zareen Khan, who made her debut opposite none other than Salman Khan in Veer. Her story resonates with me, not just because of her on-screen chemistry with my favorite star, but also due to the unique struggles she faced off-screen.
Zareen Khan, who first appeared on screen alongside Salman Khan in the 2010 film “Veer,” has stated that being frequently compared to Katrina Kaif hasn’t been beneficial for her career. In a recent conversation, director Anil Sharma acknowledged the similarity between Zareen and Katrina. He further disclosed that Katrina Kaif originally expressed interest in being a part of “Veer,” but the producers were seeking a fresh face at the time. It was Salman Khan who discovered Zareen and persuaded Sharma to include her in the film.
In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, director Anil Sharma discussed the belief that Zareen Khan shares a resemblance to Katrina Kaif and if her inclusion in the movie was deliberate. However, he made it clear that this wasn’t so; he simply met Zareen because Salman Khan was collaborating with Katrina on another film (Veer) at the time, and asked Sharma to have a chat with her.
Initially, Katrina expressed interest in joining the movie, but the producers opted for a fresh talent instead. It was Khan who found Zareen, an actress coming from a modest upbringing, which eventually led to her landing the role in the film.
He continued by saying that Khan had sent Zareen to him, and he worked as hard as he could with her. The Gadar 2 director acknowledged that her appearance resembled Katrina Kaif.
In a previous conversation with Navbharat Times, Zareen explained that instead of being compared to the actress from Merry Christmas, her aim upon entering the industry was to forge her unique identity, rather than being perceived as a doppelganger or a reflection of someone else.
Despite spending numerous years trying to make a name for herself in Bollywood, Zareen finds herself frequently referred to as someone who resembles Katrina. Moreover, she pointed out that producers and directors don’t seem keen on collaborating with someone seen as an imitation or copy.
Upcoming Project: Salman Khan will appear in the film “Sikandar,” produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and AR Murugadoss. It was reported first by TopMob that the team intends to release a teaser for the movie on December 27, 2024, which coincides with Salman’s birthday. Rashmika Mandanna, Pratiek Babbar, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi are also part of this project.
