Did you know Shah Rukh Khan's iconic song Baadshah O Baadshah was penned on Baazigar's release date?

As a devoted follower of Bollywood’s reigning king, Shah Rukh Khan, I can attest to his remarkable journey that spans over three decades. The intricacies and behind-the-scenes stories of his movies never cease to fascinate me.

1992 saw Shah Rukh Khan’s film debut alongside Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor in the movie Deewana. Early on in his career, SRK took on antagonist roles in films like Darr, Baazigar, and Anjaam, demonstrating his versatility and acting talent. Among Shah Rukh’s most well-known films is Baadshah, which holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Interestingly, the song “Baadshah O Baadshah” from Baadshah was written on the same day as the release of Baazigar by its creators.

At the premiere event for the movie “Baadshah”, Shah Rukh Khan disclosed that the filmmakers behind the direction of Abbas-Mustan’s production had composed the theme song, “Baadshah O Baadshah”, during the debut of “Baazigar”.

Shah Rukh Khan explained that the release of Baadshah was postponed for a considerable time due to scheduling conflicts and other professional obligations. Interestingly, the famous track “Baadshah O Baadshah” was written six years prior to the film’s eventual debut in 1999.

Shah Rukh Khan revealed that at first, the creators of “Baadshah” had a different plot in mind, but it didn’t quite fit. The script was revised as directors Abbas-Mustan and SRK got caught up with their own work obligations. King Khan added, “We paused the film production for some time. It took a lot of effort to bring this movie to completion, but the title of ‘Baadshah’ was penned down on the day ‘Baazigar’ was released. So it has been a long journey, and I hope the wait will be worth it.”

For those unfamiliar, Shah Rukh Khan agreed to star in the film Baazigar only after his friend and fellow actor Deepak Tijori approved it. In a past interview with The Indian Express, Tijori shared that Khan was hesitant about the 1993 movie until he gave his consent.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepak Tijori had a mutual agreement that Shah Rukh wouldn’t accept the offer from the producers of Baazigar until they discussed it with him first. After resolving the matter, they collaborated on the movie Baadshah later on.

Back in 1999, I, a diehard fan, had the privilege of witnessing the magical collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Twinkle Khanna on the big screen, in the iconic movie Baadshah. The stellar cast also included the late Amrish Puri, Rakhee Gulzar, Johnny Lever, and many more talented individuals. This cinematic masterpiece was graced by the presence of the legendary Neeraj Vora and Shyam Goel, who co-wrote its screenplay. The movie was unveiled to the world on August 27, 1999.
