Did you know Sunidhi Chauhan worked as an AD on Ranbir Kapoor-Deepika Padukone’s Tamasha? Reveals ‘fixing’ few things in the popular tabletop scene

As a die-hard fan of Sunidhi Chauhan, I’ve always been captivated by her mesmerizing voice that brings songs to life. But her latest venture into filmmaking, assisting Imtiaz Ali on Tamasha, has opened up an entirely new realm of admiration for the versatile artist.

As an ardent admirer, I’ve always been captivated by the mesmerizing voice of Sunidhi Chauhan. For years, her melodious tunes have enchanted us, but little did we know that she harbored a passion beyond singing. Stepping behind the camera, she found her calling as an assistant to the esteemed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali on Tamasha, a movie graced by the talents of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Intriguingly, Sunidhi recently disclosed that she subtly contributed to the iconic tabletop scene between the lead actors, proving yet again her multifaceted talent.

Sunidhi Chauhan discussed with Sucharita Tyagi about her involvement in the movie Tamasha, which was helmed by Imtiaz Ali. She openly expressed her respect for him and how their past connection paved the way for his invitation to be part of this production. Despite being engaged in filming her own show concurrently, she eagerly took advantage of the situation to witness the filmmaking dynamics firsthand.

The iconic singer admitted feeling ‘terrified’ by the responsibilities of being an assistant director, including managing crowds during shoots. She noticed that onlookers recognized her, often commenting on her resemblance to the famous singer.

She mentioned that she was in Delhi for the filming of Agar Tum Saath Ho and stated, “I made some changes in the scene involving the group of junior artists sitting in the crowd.” She also said that she had the opportunity to work on certain aspects as it was a part of her role.

While observing Imtiaz as he managed Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, she was captivated by how he skillfully led the actors without needing a camera or screen. Instead, he communicated his instructions personally, making it seem like she was experiencing the movie’s inception from his distinctive point of view.

Sunidhi Chauhan found the whole event enchanting, noting how skillfully the performers adopted Ali’s unique flair, effectively conveying the spirit behind his cinematic work.

At first, Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha was underestimated, but over time, it has earned a cherished place in the hearts of many, praised for its innovative narrative style and the captivating camaraderie between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Initially, people were attracted to the film because it starred a former real-life couple. However, Tamasha turned out to be more than just a love story; it was a complex exploration of self-discovery. Over time, its deep narrative has been appreciated as an inspiring tale about identity and purpose. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Tamasha is now considered one of Imtiaz Ali’s most meaningful creations.
