Vidya Balan, who first appeared in Bollywood with Parineeta back in 2005, has become one of Hindi cinema’s most gifted actresses. She is recognized for her performances in movies such as The Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Bhool Bhulaiyya, and others. Interestingly, during the shooting of Kahaani, Vidya Balan switched costumes inside a car wrapped in black fabric!
In an interview with Mashable India, film director Sujoy Ghosh shared a memory about working with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on the movie ‘Kahaani’. He mentioned that due to financial constraints, they didn’t have a vanity van for actress Vidya Balan and she had to change her costumes in the car during filming.
The director of Kahaani stated that unfortunately, we didn’t have enough funds to rent a vanity van. Due to our tight budget, we couldn’t pause filming whenever someone needed to change costumes. Instead, we would cover our Innova car with a black cloth on the roadside and she would change inside it before resuming shooting.
Sujoy Ghosh highly commended Vidya Balan for choosing to collaborate with him on Kahaani. He noted that Vidya had the option to decline working with him since his movie, Aladin in 2009, did not perform well at the box office initially.
The movie’s director likened the actress to cinematic giants Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, suggesting that she belongs in their league due to their shared dedication to their craft and Vidya’s unwavering commitment to the 2012 film.
In addition to Irrfan Khan, the movie “Kahaani” featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Parambrata Chatterjee in significant parts. Moreover, this suspenseful tale was jointly written and produced by Sujoy Ghosh as well.
The director has been at the helm of various films such as Jhankaar Beats, Aladin, Bang Bang, Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh, Te3n, Badla, Bob Biswas, Jaane Jaan, and Blind. His most recent directing work was a segment titled “Sex with Ex” in the anthology Lust Stories 2, featuring Vijay Varma and Tamannaah Bhatia as the main characters.
Currently, Sujoy is preparing for the release of his upcoming movie titled “King,” starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Additionally, Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Abhay Verma will also be featured in this action-packed film.
