As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but share the rollercoaster journey of my beloved Indian cricketer, Yuzvendra Chahal, and the captivating choreographer, Dhanashree Verma. Their fairy-tale union took place in Gurgaon, back in the frosty winter of December 2020. However, whispers about their separation began to circulate just months later, stirring speculation about an impending divorce. Fast forward five years to March 2025, and the shocking news was confirmed – they were officially divorced. Now, a renowned journalist has shed light on the reasons behind this heart-wrenching split. Keep reading!
Initially, many supporters of Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma were taken aback when news of their potential divorce surfaced. Over time, various pieces of information emerged, leading to the formal ending of their marriage on March 20, 2025, after a lengthy period of separation. In an exclusive statement, renowned journalist Vickey Lalwani disclosed the true cause behind the couple’s split.
Lalwani shared on Instagram that the disagreement between Chahal and Verma stemmed from their distinct personalities, but the situation worsened when Dhanashree requested Yuzvendra to relocate permanently from Haryana to Mumbai.
As a dedicated follower, I’ve learned that after our marriage, we decided to move in with the cricketer’s parents in Haryana. Although we frequently visited Mumbai, it wasn’t enough to satisfy us. However, the back-and-forth between Mumbai and Haryana became a significant factor leading to the end of our high-profile union. Yuzi made it clear that he was unwilling to leave his roots in his parents’ home and environment, as revealed by Lalwani.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve been closely following the developments regarding the couple. Although earlier rumors hinted at an impending divorce, the reality was confirmed when they were seen entering the Bandra Family Court, accompanied by their legal representatives, for a divorce hearing. Previously, the Bombay High Court had granted them an exception from the customary six-month cooling-off period.
Therefore, the final hearing occurred on March 20, 2025, as Chahal would not be present from March 21, 2025, due to his involvement in IPL 2025. Following the court proceedings, Nitin Kumar Gupta, Chahal’s attorney, informed ANI that the court had granted the celebrities a divorce. “The court has approved the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer married to each other,” said the advocate.
According to The Bar and Bench, the divorced Indian cricketer is required to pay approximately 47.5 million rupees in spousal support to his former wife.
