The final chapter of another Star Wars era is nearly here, with Andor Season 2 shifting from the future lineup of Star Wars movies and TV productions to the 2025 television schedule. Over a span of three episodes per week, this season will stream on Disney+. After completing its 12-episode run, Andor will conclude Diego Luna’s portrayal of Cassian Andor, as the series leads directly into the events of Rogue One. Despite rumors that Luna wished to depart from Andor after Season 2, he assured TopMob that his experience working on the Star Wars series during its conclusion was nothing but a positive one.
In a recent interview during the “Andor” Season 2 press tour, Jeff McCobb had the opportunity to chat with Adria Arjona, who was sitting beside Bix Caleen actress Adria Arjona. One of the questions he posed was about his feelings regarding the conclusion of Cassian Andor. The actor from the 2025 film “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” set to release in October, responded:
Wow, what a fulfilling journey it’s been for me! Over the past decade, I’ve found myself eagerly rising each day, driven by the urge to keep pushing forward, to contribute at work, to engage with my family, and be part of this community. There’s so much I’ve absorbed along the way, and I consider myself truly fortunate. Time has flown by, yet I’m still relishing every moment. I want to preserve this positive vibe and remember the lessons from my experiences, as they are what truly matter in the end.
This summer signifies the 10-year milestone since filming began on “Rogue One,” the second Star Wars movie under Disney, which was released to audiences in December 2016. Initially, it appeared that Cassian would be a one-time character due to his death at the end of the movie. However, with the introduction of “Andor,” we’ve had the opportunity to explore Cassian’s storyline for the past five years, culminating in his demise on Scarif alongside Jyn Erso. This means that Luna has been able to spend a decade in a distant galaxy, an experience he’s thoroughly enjoyed.
Initially intended for five seasons, creator Tony Gilroy found it impractical and made the decision to conclude Andor after only two seasons due to the immense work involved in producing Season 1. This choice was driven by necessity as he recognized the tremendous effort required to bring Andor to life. Furthermore, given that this series is a prequel to Rogue One, Gilroy stated that Diego’s aging process couldn’t accommodate the time needed for production since it takes too long to create an authentic portrayal of the character.

Consider the Disney Plus Annual Plan: This annual subscription costs only $159.99, offering a 16% savings! If you’re an avid fan of shows like Andor and the wider Star Wars universe, this could be a great choice for you. Instead of paying a monthly fee of $15.99 on its Ad-Free standalone plan ($191.88 annually), you can opt for a one-time payment of $159.99 for 12 months. Check it out here: View Deal
Instead of devoting an entire season to depicting the year leading up to Rogue One, Star Wars: Andor Season 2 has chosen to focus on three episodes per season, providing glimpses into Cassian Andor’s activities in the years following the events of Season 1. This approach appears to have been successful, as the second season has already garnered a lot of positive early feedback. Although Diego Luna is moving on from playing Cassian, he remains an integral part of the Star Wars family and is undoubtedly grateful for the opportunity.
I’m thrilled to share that tomorrow marks the premiere of Andor Season 2 on Disney+! This exciting chapter in the Star Wars saga will wrap up by May 13th. Following Andor, the live-action TV universe continues with Ahsoka Season 2, but as of now, we don’t know its release date yet. Can’t wait to see more adventures unfold!
