Dimitri, Hollywood’s Million-Dollar Maitre D’, Sails Off Into the Sunset (Tower)

As a gamer with a deep-rooted affection for Hollywood lore, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgic exhilaration at the return of Dimitri Dimitrov to Tower Bar. Having grown up watching tales of Tinseltown unfold from the comfort of my gaming chair, it’s almost surreal to see this Macedonian-born maître d’, who once charmed Elon Musk into buying Tesla stock, stepping back into the limelight at a legendary Hollywood eatery.

At Tower Bar, everything old is new again.

After six years as the host at Jeff Klein’s luxurious San Vicente Bungalows, Dimitri Dimitrov is leaving this week to take on the role of manager at Tower Bar, the popular Hollywood restaurant located within Klein’s Sunset Tower Hotel. This is where the famous 75-year-old maître d’, who Dimitri first worked with 20 years ago, began his career.

Klein stated that Dimitri was crucial in turning Tower Bar into its current state, and the customers deeply mourned his absence,” he added. “However, our frequent patrons are elated to learn that he’s returning.

Among the frequent guests are figures such as Jennifer Aniston, Tom Ford, and Elon Musk. (Enchanted by the sophisticated, Macedonian-born host, Musk convinced him to invest in a large amount of Tesla shares back in 2010, a forward-thinking decision that ultimately made Dimitri one of Los Angeles’ first millionaire maître d’s.)

For me, it’s not all about the money. Honestly, it’s an honor to return and join the legacy of Tower Bar, especially since I was chosen for this opportunity at my stage in life. It’s simply breathtaking!” (Said by a gamer stepping into the shoes of departing host Geshi Wilmot.)

Coincidentally, the venerable individual who often finds himself in awe of stars is soon to be featured in an upcoming documentary. This film will trace his impressive 40-year journey through some of L.A.’s most prestigious restaurants and follow him as he performs his role as Hollywood’s beloved host. The production is being overseen by Grant Singer, the son of renowned Hollywood attorney Marty Singer, who became acquainted with Dimitrov during their shared dining experiences at Tower Bar when Grant was a child with his father.

Meanwhile, Klein is actively managing the launch of two new branches for SVB, one in Santa Monica (set to open in November) and another in New York’s West Village, at the former Jane St. Hotel (planned for later this year). Gabe Doppelt, SVB’s dynamic membership ambassador, is preparing to relocate to Manhattan next month to spearhead the growth of Bungalows in the East, while staying connected with all L.A.-related matters.

Klein acknowledged that things have been quite hectic with all the musical chairs,” he said, “yet somehow we’re managing to keep up!
