Discover the One Perfect Stranger Things Spinoff That Netflix Needs to Make!

It won’t be long until Netflix begins releasing spinoffs of the hit series “Stranger Things,” but only one potential future series seems fitting once the original story wraps up. The sci-fi horror show, produced by the Duffer Brothers, skyrocketed to global fame after its debut in 2016. As a result, the “Stranger Things” universe has grown to encompass books, video games, comics, a stage play, and other projects. Unsurprisingly, Netflix seized this opportunity to capitalize on the show’s success, and it will likely continue to do so even after season 5 with spinoffs.

At the time this piece was penned, only one officially confirmed ‘Stranger Things’ spinoff has been announced: Stranger Things: Tales from ’85. However, details regarding the upcoming series are scarce at present. The animated show is set in 1985, coinciding with the timeline of ‘Stranger Things’ season 3. As for other spinoff plans, Netflix has been tight-lipped about them. If they want to capitalize on their success, though, they should focus on one concept in particular.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow Would Be The Perfect Stranger Things Spinoff

Netflix Should Adapt The Stage Play

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I firmly believe that the Stranger Things universe could persist triumphantly through prequels, such as unveiling Henry Creel’s backstory. Unfortunately, a West End stage play titled “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” has beaten me to it and is now also playing on Broadway. This captivating production, set in the late 1950s, tells the tale of young Henry Creel’s arrival in Hawkins, Indiana, and introduces younger iterations of Hopper, Joyce, Bob, and other beloved characters. Given its engaging narrative, “The First Shadow” would make an ideal foundation for a Netflix spinoff series.

If Netflix is considering creating a spinoff of “Stranger Things”, it should be a prequel that preserves the original series’ ending without contradicting it. To maintain continuity, this spinoff should incorporate the same genres as Stranger Things, namely sci-fi, horror, and supernatural elements. It would also benefit from introducing beloved characters such as Hopper, Joyce, Henry Creel, and others. Consequently, a live-action adaptation of “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” seems most fitting for the franchise’s initial spinoff.

Why A Sequel Series Wouldn’t Work For The Stranger Things Franchise

Prequels Are The Best Option

As long as we’re yet to discover how the story of Stranger Things concludes, it remains uncertain how they can progress with sequel series featuring popular characters like Eleven or Steve (particularly if they’ve perished). If some characters do endure, however, there’s anticipation that the finale will deliver a decisive ending for each character. It should not leave viewers hanging, as this might spawn spinoffs, but it could also undermine the unique narrative of Stranger Things.

Stranger Things Season 5 Main Cast Role
Millie Bobby Brown Eleven/Jane Hopper
Finn Wolfhard Mike Wheeler
Noah Schnapp Will Byers
Caleb McLaughlin Lucas Sinclair
Gaten Matarazzo Dustin Henderson
Sadie Sink Max Mayfield
David Harbour Jim Hopper
Winona Ryder Joyce Byers
Joe Keery Steve Harrington
Maya Hawke Robin Buckley
Natalia Dyer Nancy Wheeler
Charlie Heaton Jonathan Byers
Priah Ferguson Erica Sinclair
Bret Gelman Murray Bauman

In a more natural and easily understandable way, If new shows or movies focusing on any of the Stranger Things characters were made, they might spoil the original show’s conclusion. Yet, it would be challenging to keep viewers engaged without familiar faces when the series ends. Thus, introducing a spin-off like Stranger Things: The First Shadow is an ideal choice to ensure the Stranger Things universe remains vibrant beyond season 5.
