Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ Raise Prices Again

As a long-time gamer and budget-conscious entertainment enthusiast, I must admit that I feel a bit disheartened by Disney’s decision to raise the price of its streaming platforms yet again. I vividly remember the excitement when Disney+ launched back in late 2019, offering an affordable gateway to countless hours of nostalgic content and new releases.

Disney+ is increasing its price once more, meaning it will cost more than twice as much as when it first launched at the end of 2019. This change, set for October 2024, precedes the arrival of notable movies such as Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine on the platform within a few months.

Disney Plus now costs $15.99 per month for its ad-free plan, a significant rise from the initial $6.99 it was priced at. The advertisement-included tier has also seen an increase, going up to $9.99 per month, both plans experiencing a $2 increase in their respective prices.

On other Disney-controlled streaming services, prices may not be as affordable compared to Hulu, which has recently undergone a price hike. The advertisement tier now costs $9.99 USD per month, while the ad-free service will set you back at $18.99 USD monthly. It’s important to note that the cost of Hulu with ads increased by $2 USD, whereas the ad-free version saw a $1 USD increase.

ESPN+ now costs $11.99 USD individually, while the combined package of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ (with ads) is priced at $16.99 USD or without ads for $26.99 USD. The Disney+ and Hulu Duo plan, as well as the newly-introduced Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle, are the only plans that will not be increasing in price.

Disney aims to lessen the initial surprise by revealing that ABC News live-streaming and a playlist for preschoolers are joining Disney+. Additionally, subscribers of the ad-free plan will gain access to four additional playlists this autumn.
