As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for all things Disney, I must admit that the recent addition of Maui to the roster of Disney Speedstorm has me absolutely thrilled! Growing up, I was captivated by the tales of Polynesian mythology, and Maui, as portrayed magnificently by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in Moana, was one of my favorites.
Disney Speedstorm boasts a diverse cast of characters spanning from Monsters Inc. to Pirates of the Caribbean, making it an ideal playground for any Disney enthusiast. And while it’s already heaven for many, the excitement grows even bigger as the charismatic demi-god Maui, freshly introduced in Moana 2, is all set to make his debut in part one of season 11!
In a different wording, Maui is widely recognized, yet I’ll briefly explain him: He’s a mythological character from real life (portrayed magnificently by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) who became one of the standout personalities in Disney’s Polynesian-themed animated hit. Regrettably, you won’t get to hear The People’s Champ lend his voice, but there’s sufficient refinement to compensate for it.
Firstly, Maui’s thematically appropriate ability, “Hero to All,” allows him to launch racers high into the air with an accurately thrown magical fishing hook. When fully charged, he momentarily transforms into a magical bird (specifically a hawk) and retaliates powerfully.

As a devoted fan, I must say that Disney Speedstorm is nothing short of a delightful blessing for us enthusiasts. It’s not just fun, but it also effectively keeps Disney characters at the forefront of public attention. Despite Moana 2 exceeding all expectations, I can’t help but think that such exposure might still be beneficial.
It’s likely that Maui will rank quite high in numerous Disney Speedstorm tier lists, including ours. His unique ability allows him to knock other racers off their course, similar to a certain blue shell, and then surge ahead. This makes him a formidable challenge for other players on the track.
