As a seasoned gamer with a lifelong passion for both gaming and Star Wars, this news has left me in a state of anticipation-induced limbo. On one hand, I’m thrilled about another installment of the beloved Ice Age series gracing our screens, but on the other, the delay in the upcoming Star Wars movie is a tad disheartening.
Disney has decided to replace a scheduled Star Wars film with another project on their 2026 release schedule. Instead, the upcoming animation series in the same franchise will be released then.
The sixth installment of “Ice Age” is now scheduled to premiere in cinemas on December 18, 2026. As yet, there has been no disclosure regarding the “Star Wars” movie that was previously planned for this same date.
Last week, it was revealed that Simon Kinberg is set to script and oversee the production of a new Star Wars trilogy. Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, will also produce this trilogy. Initial reports from The Hollywood Reporter suggested that these films would introduce fresh characters and not be an extension of the Skywalker Saga, which encompassed Episodes 1 through 9 within the Star Wars film series.
Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey Skywalker, is the central figure of an upcoming “Star Wars” film that is currently being developed by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. This project was unveiled during Star Wars Celebration in London back in April 2023.
Back in the start of this year, it was disclosed that the movie titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu” directed by Jon Favreau, featuring Pedro Pascal, will make its way to cinemas on May 22, 2026. This film is a continuation of the popular Disney+ show “The Mandalorian“, which premiered its third season not long ago in the previous year.
More to come.
