Among the latest exciting developments, there’s a new live stage production on the horizon – Disney Villains: Twisted Tales, set to premiere later in the year at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This captivating show features iconic villains such as Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent who argue that they have been portrayed unfairly throughout their stories. The blend of humor and what promises to be a spectacular technical display has piqued my interest for this production, but there’s one recent announcement that dampens the excitement.
Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After Is Reportedly 40 Minutes Long
This morning, a webpage featuring Unfairly Ever After was published on the Walt Disney World site. Although most of the details were already known, there was one fresh detail: the show’s duration, which was indicated as 40 minutes. However, this runtime figure has since been removed from the page, leaving it uncertain whether the number was incorrect or if Disney World chose to withhold the information for now.
If we consider the figure to be correct, it would result in an exceptionally extended stage performance at a theme park, much longer than typical shows like those offered by Disney World or other theme parks. In contrast, most live performances such as the upcoming Disney Villains show are roughly half that length. This extended duration enables multiple performances, ensuring a higher frequency of guest turnover. Given the notoriously long queues at Disney World for attractions, high turnover is indeed desirable.
How Am I Going To Keep My Kids Still For 40 Minutes?
If the timing is correct, it could be particularly thrilling for me since a longer performance offers more intricate and comprehensive storytelling compared to what we typically see in theme park shows. Often, live stage shows are abridged versions of Disney’s most beloved films. Yet, being a father of two young children, I have some reservations.
Keeping some young children focused during a 40-minute show can be quite challenging at times, I’ve found this out myself. For instance, even my most cherished Disney stage production, Rogers: The Musical, was merely 30 minutes long. Therefore, it seems like an enormous feat to expect parents to keep a four or five-year-old child seated for that duration. They are likely to fidget, demand snacks, and may even need to use the restroom.
