The hardworking cast members who bring the magic to life have finally received the recognition and compensation they so richly deserve.
Disneyland employees approved a new three-year contract roughly a week after they had the option to go on strike if no deal was made.
14,000 Disneyland employees, who work as custodians, ride operators, candy makers, and merchandise clerks among others at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, Downtown Disney, and the Disney hotels, have chosen to approve a three-year contract. This agreement reportedly includes the largest wage rise they’ve ever experienced. Over the coming years, most workers can expect a raise of approximately $6.10. By 2024, the minimum base wage will be set at $24 per hour.

Through the approval of these agreements, Disney employees, referred to as “cast members,” have achieved significant wage increases and beneficial new policies and safeguards that acknowledge their essential role in creating magical experiences at Disney parks. For several months, dedicated cast members have united at the negotiation table and on park grounds to make Disney understand the value they add to the theme park visit, and these contracts represent the tangible outcome of their unwavering efforts. According to the Disney Workers Rising Bargaining Committee in a statement.
At Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney, the contracts become active as soon as they are approved (ratified).
1. On April 24, the bargaining group within the Master Services Council started negotiations with Disney. The agreement for Disneyland’s employees ends on June 16, 2024. Similarly, the contracts for staff at Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney expire on September 30, 2024.
