Disney’s Beloved Figment Character May Get Bigger Role After Fan Demand

Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger, is yielding to public request and is contemplating expanding the role of the cherished EPCOT character, Figment, in future projects.

The iconic purple dragon figure appears on the ride “Journey Into Imagination With Figment” at EPCOT located within Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. This character also welcomes visitors inside the Imagination! pavilion. At a recent shareholder meeting, Iger was questioned if he might consider utilizing this character, symbolizing creativity and imagination, in different areas of their business.

I’m currently in my 24th year, and for the past 18 years, I’ve served as CEO. I believe I’ve fielded the query regarding Figment around 15 different occasions,” is how it could be rephrased.

It’s clear that he’s well-liked by shareholders, given how frequently they inquire about him. Additionally, his popularity is evident at EPCOT, where people interact with him. The reason for this widespread appeal has been a recurring question, prompting me to suggest that our creative teams explore creating a series or short videos featuring Figment. This is because it appears that he’s more beloved than simply being a character encountered during park visits.

Beyond just enjoying the company of dragons at the park, I’ve also had the pleasure of encountering Figment in Pixar’s movies like “Inside Out” and “Toy Story 4”. Plus, I can’t resist picking up some related merchandise from the theme park when I visit!

In the year 2022, news emerged that a movie based on Figment was being created by Seth Rogen’s production company Point Grey. Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, who worked on Pokémon Detective Pikachu, were announced as the film’s writers.
