2025 will see a new figurehead for both Marvel Studios and Star Wars at Disney, as they advance into the second half of the year. Both these iconic franchises are set to release some significant films in cinemas and on Disney+ following a somewhat varied beginning to the year. Given the numerous sub-franchises under their management, this transition implies that there will be new faces taking over leading roles.
At CineEurope 2025, which took place from June 16th to June 19th in Barcelona, Spain, Disney conducted a panel. This gathering was organized to commemorate the upcoming releases of its projects in the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026. In preparation for this occasion, the studio unveiled fresh promotional content featuring characters from multiple popular series, totaling more than a dozen. Notable figures from Marvel and Disney were also showcased within this material.
From the passionate movie enthusiast perspective, I’m thrilled to share that as a part of their promotional strategy, Disney unfurled an impressive billboard showcasing characters hailing from Pixar, Walt Disney Animation Studios, 20th Century Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and Searchlight Pictures.
Marvel Studios showcased an image of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (from the movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”), whereas Star Wars emphasized his well-known character, Din Djarin/The Mandalorian, from the 2026 film titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu“.
Pascal, known for his significant contributions to Disney, particularly on “The Mandalorian” streaming on Disney+, will further cement his Star Wars legacy by starring as the lead in “The Mandalororian & Grogu,” set for release in 2026. This upcoming production is expected to continue the narrative thread he has been weaving through his years of work on “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.
Although specifics about the storyline haven’t been fully revealed yet, it’s likely that many familiar characters from previous Star Wars animated and live-action productions will reappear, joined by some fresh personalities too.
Previously announced, Pascal has been selected for his initial collaboration with Marvel Studios as he portrays Reed Richards in the upcoming film titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“. Alongside him are Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. This quartet, known by their title, will unite to confront the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Galactus, who is determined to obliterate their universe.
On May 22, 2026, the film featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to premiere in cinemas, with The Fantastic Four: First Steps making its grand appearance on the silver screen on July 11, 2025.
How Pedro Pascal Will Drive Disney’s Success in 2025 & 2026
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to highlight that Pedro Pascal has already made a significant impact in the entertainment world, with his notable roles in both Star Wars and DC universes preceding his much-anticipated entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following his captivating performance alongside Chris Evans and Dakota Johnson in the upcoming film The Materialists, the coming year promises even more chances for him to deliver remarkable performances.
The highly anticipated Fantastic Four is stirring up significant excitement within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Pascal prepares to headline this iconic group of Marvel superheroes for their maiden voyage in a Marvel Studios film. Alongside an impressive ensemble of fellow stars, they will confront Galactus, and subsequently unite with both the Avengers and X-Men in the epic battle of Avengers: Doomsday. In this thrilling showdown, numerous heroes will square off against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
In marketing materials, hints about Pascal’s character abilities for Mr. Fantastic (Reed Richards) have been subtle, but fans eagerly anticipate watching him face formidable foes and demonstrate his role as a parent for the first time, particularly with the inclusion of Franklin Richards in the storyline.
As a dedicated Star Wars fan, I eagerly anticipate lending my voice to Din Djarin once more when he re-enters the galaxy in this upcoming movie, marking his return since Season 3 of The Mandalorian in 2023. Fans like myself are hoping for a momentous revelation when he finally takes off his helmet – an event that has been scarce in Mando’s narrative thus far. However, regardless of whether we get to witness his face or not, I am convinced that this character will make a significant mark on the film, engaging in another fierce battle against fresh adversaries.
In the upcoming weeks and years, expect Pedro Pascal to have a significant presence, making him a highly valuable star for Disney. Both his characters, Reed Richards and Din Djarin, seem poised for extended appearances in their respective franchises.
