As a gamer with a heart for Disney classics and a keen eye for cinematic adaptations, this live-action Snow White reimagining has me more than just a little excited! Growing up with the original animated film, I’ve always held a special place for Snow White in my memory bank of childhood magic. And let me tell you, Rachel Zegler looks every bit the part as our beloved princess, and her singing talents have already proven their mettle in West Side Story and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Off we head, off we head, time for the live-action version of Snow White! This spring, Disney’s original Princess is set to undergo a fresh take, with Rachel Zegler, known from The Hunger Games, taking on the role. A sneak peek was unveiled recently at D23 Expo, and you can watch the first trailer right here above.
On previous occasions, Zegler has worn the princess’ well-known gown, but this trailer introduces Gal Gadot, formerly known as Wonder Woman, into her new role as the Wicked Queen. Here’s a glimpse of it:
In a striking resemblance to the original designs that catapulted Walt Disney Animation into feature filmmaking back in 1937, Disney seems to be going above and beyond with their stylistic choices. Zegler’s dress bears a strong likeness to the animated Snow White, while Gadot seems to embody the essence of the classic villainess.
The trailer includes snippets of Zegler singing iconic songs such as “Whistle While You Work” and “I’m Wishing,” along with a scene where she is near a wishing well for the latter. Additionally, it provides a glimpse of Snow White’s prince, portrayed by Andrew Burnap, in the trailer.
As a die-hard fan, I’m excitedly looking forward to Rachel Zegler bringing the role of Snow White to life, despite the recent controversy. Her stunning performance in films like “West Side Story” and “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” has proven she possesses a voice that will beautifully resonate with the Disney songs I cherished growing up. I can’t wait!
Instead of Gadot, on the contrary, seems to be enjoying herself immensely as the Evil Queen. Having watched her portray a superhero in the Wonder Woman films, I now eagerly anticipate seeing her in this role. After catching a glimpse of her in the trailer, my imagination is captivated by this casting choice.
As a devoted Disney enthusiast, I was eagerly anticipating the upcoming “Snow White” film, initially slated for 2024 – a perfect alignment with Disney’s centennial celebration. Regrettably, the production faced a significant setback towards the end of last year when the studio decided to postpone its release by an entire year. Rumors suggest that this was due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike at the time.
More to come…
