As a seasoned gamer with decades of virtual adventures under my belt, I must admit, the real world sometimes manages to surprise me. The trailer for the upcoming live-action Snow White movie has certainly done just that! After years of gaming adaptations like Disney’s Enchanted and the various Kingdom Hearts games, it feels almost surreal to see the iconic characters stepping into our reality.
After many years of whistling as she worked on a fresh film, Snow White is almost ready to make her comeback on the big screen. Disney revealed the initial trailer for Snow White during D23 on Friday, before its scheduled release on March 21, 2025.
The movie was originally scheduled to debut in March of the current year, but Disney delayed its release by a full year due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Notably, the main cast members, Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, showcased early footage from the film at D23 two years ago.
Movie director Marc Webb, famed for helming the Amazing Spider-Man films, is currently directing a film that features music composed by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who are renowned for their work on The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.
The movie is nearly 90 years after the release of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” which debuted in 1937 and played a pivotal role in building the Disney empire. Numerous adaptations of the Brothers Grimm story have graced our screens, such as “Mirror Mirror” starring Lily Collins, as well as “Snow White and the Huntsman,” featuring Kristen Stewart.
Among the upcoming Disney live-action films, “Mufasa: The Lion King” is set to premiere first on December 20th. Disney has seen significant success in its live-action remakes, with blockbusters like “Beauty and the Beast” and “Aladdin” earning over $1 billion each prior to the pandemic. The latest release, “The Little Mermaid,” generated a revenue of $569.6 million.
