As a long-time gamer and avid fan of The Boys, I can’t help but be excited about the upcoming season and the potential developments for the characters. Spoiler alert: I’ve seen the Season 4 finale and I’m eagerly waiting for more twists and turns in this gritty and thought-provoking series.
As a dedicated fan of superhero stories, I’ve seen my fair share of finales that left me feeling underwhelmed or unsatisfied. But let me tell you, The Boys’ Season 4 finale on Amazon Prime was an absolute game-changer. The tension was palpable as I watched the events unfold, my heart pounding in my chest as the stakes grew higher and higher.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of The Boys Season 5, as showrunner Eric Kripke has hinted that the highly-anticipated showdown between Homelander and Butcher is on the horizon. This means fans can brace themselves for a lengthy debate about theories, following the shocking twists in Season 4’s finale. Questions abound: What will become of the Supes and non-Supes who have been detained under martial law? How far will Firecracker go before she decides to stop taking her meds? And is Sister Sage truly assisting Homelander, or is she secretly plotting against him?
As a dedicated fan of “The Boys,” I’ve been intrigued by the enigmatic character of Black Noir and the unclear motivations of almost every other character in the show. However, Susan Heyward, who brilliantly portrays the intelligent and insightful Sister Sage, has shed some light on the complex relationship between her character and Homelander.
During an interview with TVLine, Heyward was questioned about whether Sage truly aligns with Homelander’s viewpoint that Supers are superior beings. She didn’t fully endorse this perspective herself, as she expressed it.
In my opinion, I find her intentions questionable. The primary reason being that she’s the one guiding him towards advanced thinking. Previously, his goal was to seize control of Vought and manage its capitalist media empire. However, I believe Sage is leading him towards a more complex way of thinking than he was accustomed to. Consequently, I’m skeptical that their ultimate objectives align. Instead, I assume they are venturing into distinct territories due to her influence.
As someone who has spent years working with horses and observing their complex behaviors, I can’t help but be in awe of Sage’s remarkable abilities. She doesn’t just guide her horses to the water source; she makes them believe it’s an irresistible oasis. Her understanding of equine psychology is so profound that she can make a horse drink even when it’s not thirsty, making the experience enjoyable and rewarding for both the animal and herself.
The actress isn’t sure if Sage and Homelander aim for the same end, as she hasn’t seen the next episodes yet. She believes there could be scenarios where Sage chooses differently, but she hopes that the character’s humane side will win out.
As someone who has grown up in a world where supremacist ideologies have caused immense pain and suffering, I can’t help but be intrigued by the fictional supreme leader portrayed in our favorite show. On one hand, there’s a deep-rooted hope within me that come Season 5, we’ll uncover a surprising truth: that this character is not truly supremacist, but rather an egalitarian who has been playing a role to protect humanity.
Heyward continued by describing the three possible scenarios for Sister Sage’s future, which she believes are the most plausible based on the writers’ perspectives.
In a wise and thoughtful manner, various scenarios play out in my mind. One portrays her as a power-hungry conqueror. Another paints her as a secret savior for humanity. Yet another depicts her as an instigator of chaos for amusement. Each role is intriguing to me as an actress.
Let’s explore my perspective on the situation, aligning it with Heyward’s for a clearer understanding.
My Theory For Sister Sage’s Gameplan
As someone who has witnessed the chaos and destruction brought about by the Supes and their powers, I can’t help but feel a growing sense of unease every time I see Sage’s latest moves. It’s not that I don’t believe she had good intentions when she first came into power, but her actions now leave me questioning her true motives.
Regardless of the outcome, I find it hard to envision a peaceful future under Vought’s rule. Susan Heyward may welcome the turmoil, but even she wouldn’t be fully satisfied with such chaos. Instead, I believe she is manipulating situations to give Vought and The Seven an advantage, so their eventual downfall will be more dramatic when their wrongdoings are exposed. Unfortunately, Truth Con attendees seem unwilling to consider rational arguments.
No Lobotomy Needed
The actor portraying Black Noir in “The Boys” shares his perspectives on the revealing Sexy Sister Sage scene and discusses the excitement of interacting with other characters for the first time.
Sage is not the type to seek the spotlight; instead, she prefers to influence events from behind the scenes. It comes as no surprise that she aspires to become a bona fide government advisor during a time when most Supers, good and bad, have been eliminated. I have full faith in her ability to devise a compelling argument to save herself from being eliminated alongside them when conveying this proposal to the President and other key figures.
Another possibility: Sage might understand that human beings will bring about our own destruction, regardless of how many chances we are given. It’s possible that we aren’t worth saving in the end. However, Frenchie and Kimiko are an exception. Their budding romance deserves to flourish.
You can watch all four seasons of “The Boys” in their entirety on Prime Video at the moment. Don’t forget to explore other fantastic superhero TV series apart from Marvel and DC, and mark your calendars for the new shows premiering on TV in 2024, as outlined in our comprehensive schedule.
