The prospect of witnessing a heartwarming fantasy epic like “Sari & Amira,” a gripping mystery thriller with a Qatari flavor in “Saoud Wainah,” and a thought-provoking documentary about Anne Lorimor’s inspiring journey in “Anne Everlasting” is truly tantalizing.
A captivating mystery thriller, recognized as “Qatar’s first commercial full-length feature film,” an awe-inspiring epic that emphasizes the strength of unity, and a documentary following Anne Lorimor’s journey to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro once more, claiming her record as the oldest person to do so, are among the exciting new films announced by Katara Studios, based in Doha, Qatar, during their event held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
At a special event during the fourth installment of the Red Sea International Film Festival held in Saudi Arabia’s second-largest city on Saturday, an array of projects were revealed, among them “Sakhr,” a biographical film focusing on Mohammed Al-Sharekh, a pioneer in technology who played a crucial part in developing Arabic computing during the 1980s. This project was previously announced exclusively by THR.
On Saturday, Katara’s inaugural content presentation underscored their goal of creating “genuine and globally relatable stories.” The event was graced by key personnel such as Hussein Fakhri (CCO), Salman Al-Muhannadi, communication manager, senior content developer and scriptwriter Fahad Al-Kuwari, Mohammed Al Ibrahim, senior content developer and director, head of sound Liam Ruddel, Maryam Al-Sahli, post-production manager and editor, and Luca Bercovici, the studio’s senior VP of film, TV, and music, and executive producer. They emphasized their commitment to superior storytelling and cultivating Arabic creative talent.
