In episode 3 of season 15, titled “The Well,” the Doctor encountered a formidable foe who knew his true identity, which was to be expected given their past. As the Doctor delves into the enigma surrounding Belinda and endeavors to return to Earth in the year 2025, he’s found himself on a detour, facing peril at every turn. Yet, an unexpected confrontation with an age-old adversary from a dark cavern has added an unexpected twist to his journey.
The Doctor has a knack for seeking out mysteries, perils, and new discoveries, so stopping on an ancient, deserted mining planet seemed ordinary at first. Yet, when the Doctor and Belinda find themselves stranded on this very planet, they stumble upon hints suggesting a grisly massacre that once occurred among the crew. Determined to uncover the truth, the Doctor becomes relentless in his pursuit. With only one survivor, the Doctor manages to extract information, but what he uncovers is far more unsettling and chilling than anything he had ever envisioned before.

Rarely does the TARDIS land at random locations; instead, it’s more like a living entity that guides the Doctor to places where he can make a difference, aid others, and solve problems. In “The Well,” it seems as though the TARDIS has transported the Doctor to another location where his skills are needed once again. Although he possesses knowledge of many things throughout time and space, this planet is one where he’s had personal encounters, even if he doesn’t initially recognize it after so many years have passed.
It’s interesting to note that this planet is where the Tenth Doctor, accompanied by Donna Noble, made a visit during season 4 of the series back in 2008. At that time, it served as both a pleasure and resort planet, featuring a popular tourist destination and excursions to the diamond-covered surface. However, when the Doctor boarded a tour bus with other vacationers, he unexpectedly became the focus of a dreadful, unseen beast. The Doctor was overtaken by this terrifying entity, losing control over his own body.

The Doctor’s Name Is More Than A Secret
During the alien intrusion into both the mind and body of the Doctor, it found its way to his most hidden, troubled memories. All we viewers could perceive were the anguish, terror, and agony etched on the Doctor’s features. Remarkably, the Doctor survived the encounter with the creature and chose never to return to Midnight again, until his later arrival accompanied by Belinda. Since then, as well as before this event, there have been numerous hints suggesting that the Doctor has a name that remains hidden throughout the series.
The Doctor’s name has been subtly hinted at and was once partially revealed in a magazine, but it continues to elude everyone, even his closest friends. River Song got a glimpse of it, yet the show has always been cautious about confirming a specific name. After so many seasons, unveiling the name would probably disappoint more than excite, which is why the show “Doctor Who” should maintain the mystery surrounding the Doctor’s identity.
