As a long-time PlayStation gamer and recent Steam Deck owner, I was thrilled when I heard that Concord, the latest multiplayer shooter from Firewalk Studios, was coming to PC. Having had great experiences with previous PlayStation games like Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and Ratchet and Clank running smoothly on the Steam Deck, I couldn’t help but wonder if this new title would join them.
As a gamer excited about the newest addition to the PlayStation lineup now available on PC, I’m naturally curious if Concord can run on the Steam Deck for some convenient portable gameplay.
Previous PlayStation games, such as Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man, and Ratchet and Clank, have excelled on Valve’s hardware without any issues. Now, we wonder if Firewalk’s newest release will receive the same smooth experience.
Can you run Concord on Steam Deck?
As a gamer, I’ve been excited to play Concord on Steam Deck. However, unfortunately, it’s not just about the game’s performance for me to enjoy it smoothly. Instead, it’s all about the multiplayer infrastructure that supports this game. If we could only have a stable and efficient online platform for Concord on Steam Deck, then I, and many other players like me, would be able to fully immerse ourselves in the game.
From my gaming perspective, I regret to inform you that Concord doesn’t work on Steam Deck whatsoever. It seems highly uncertain if this game will receive support for the platform in the future.
As a long-time gamer and Linux user, I can tell you that it’s disappointing to hear that “Concord,” a game that I’m interested in playing, is not supported on the Steam Deck due to its online multiplayer component being only compatible with Windows devices via PlayStation Network. This means that while I can run the game itself on my Steam Deck, which runs Linux out of the box, I won’t be able to fully experience it with other players unless I’m willing to do some major tinkering and potentially compromise the security of my system.
Playing Ghost of Tsushima on Steam Deck goes smoothly, but there’s an issue: the game isn’t officially compatible with the platform. Despite its excellent performance, online co-op features depend on the PlayStation Network, which is incompatible with Steam Deck, making it unsupported for now.
Performing a fresh installation of Windows 11 on your Steam Deck could allow you to run Concord effectively. However, since my RTX 3080 and Intel i9 CPU have difficulty maintaining consistent frame rates for this game, I don’t anticipate the Steam Deck providing an optimal gaming experience. (Paraphrased) If you install Windows 11 from scratch on your Steam Deck, it could potentially support Concord play; however, given that my RTX 3080 and Intel i9 CPU struggle to keep up with stable frame rates for this game, I don’t envision the Steam Deck as an ideal platform for playing it.
An alternative method to enjoy the game on the Deck is through local streaming from a PS5. Applications like Chiaki facilitate this option.
If Sony decides to add multiplayer functionality to Concord on the Steam Deck through an update, I will make sure to modify this article accordingly. However, at present, there seems to be no solution available for this issue.
