As a Baywatch enthusiast who’s spent countless hours watching the iconic series, I can genuinely say that Michael Newman was one of the shining stars of the show. His passing this week at 68 is indeed a great loss not just to the cast and crew, but also to the millions of fans around the world.
Over the course of its eleven seasons, Baywatch welcomed various actors, among them was Michael Newman. Known for his role in the franchise, he portrayed himself on the series and eventually became a beloved cast member. Tragically, Newman passed away this week at the age of 68 after fighting Parkinson’s Disease. Now, one of his previous co-stars is honoring him, and it turns out to be Donna D’Errico. The popular actress paid tribute to Newman by posting a touching message on social media.
While playing the role of Donna Marco within the Baywatch franchise, Donna D’Errico was privileged to work alongside Michael Newman quite a bit. After learning of Newman’s passing, D’Errico took to Instagram to share a number of photos, which show her alongside her longtime screen partner. As cool as the behind-the-scenes pics and TV stills were, it was the sentimental caption that the actress shared that was truly affecting:
Among all the cast members on the show, Newmie was more considerate towards me than anyone else. He was consistently kind-hearted and uplifting, serving as a tranquil influence that made my time on Baywatch less daunting. I always looked forward to our shared scenes, as working with him was such a pleasure. Being aware of my apprehension around water and inability to swim, he, being an exceptional swimmer, discretely assisted me during our water scenes. Today’s news of his passing has left me deeply saddened.
At TopMob, we’re deeply saddened and send heartfelt sympathies to Michael Newman’s family, friends, and those who cared for him during these difficult times.
More to come…
