As an experienced gamer with countless hours spent traversing the vast landscapes of Dragon Quest, I must admit that the quest to obtain the Sword of Kings in the remake of Dragon Quest 3 has left an indelible mark on my gaming journey. The sheer scale and intricacy of this quest are unmatched, making it a true testament to the depth and detail that Square Enix puts into their games.
In the Dragon Quest 3 Remake, one of the most renowned weapons, known as “The Sword of Kings,” is a legendary artifact exclusively meant for the use of the game’s hero.
This sword significantly increases your attacks by 120 points. Additionally, it summons Infermost during combat, causing substantial harm to opponents.
This article explains how to obtain the Sword of Kings in Dragon Quest 3 Remake.
How to Get the Sword of Kings
The restoration of this mighty sword is no simple feat, as it’s been shattered, and its fragments are scattered across Alefgard.
To complete this quest, you must gather three essential items: Orichalcum, the Broken Blade, and the Forging Hammer.
In this scenario, instead of vanquishing additional adversaries, you’ll be engaged in activities such as exploring new areas, gathering valuable objects, and conversing with crucial Non-Player Characters (NPCs).
Here’s how to track down all three required items.
Orichalcum
Start by locating the Orichalcum, a rare and precious material needed to craft legendary weapons.
Travel southwest from Tantegel Castle to reach Damdara, located in the heart of the desert.
Upon your arrival, engage the locals for hints. You’ll find a fellow in the armory talking about overhearing whispers of Orichalcum, and a woman close to the stableyard suggesting she saw something gleaming in the pasture.
Make your way to the horse pasture and search the hay to uncover the Orichalcum.
In the strange setting of being hidden among a stack of straw in Alefgard, the Orichalcum may appear unusual, but it’s wiser not to ponder over every detail there.
Broken Blade
The next step is to find the Broken Blade, the remains of the Sword of Kings.
Travel east to the city of Cantlin, which is surrounded by mountains and toxic marshes.
Use the Safe Passage spell to navigate through the dangerous terrain without taking damage.
Upon reaching Cantlin, make your way towards the west side of town, as that’s where you can locate a building where a scientist is deeply absorbed in his studies.
He is focused on constructing a mechanical defender for the town but has no use for the broken sword fragments lying on a nearby desk.
The scientist will let you take the Broken Blade.
Forging Hammer
The final item on the list is the Forging Hammer, which belongs to a blacksmith now living in Kol.
Head up to the second level of Kol’s store, where you’ll find the blacksmith. He’ll be more than happy to tell you about their escape from Jipang, a journey they made alongside his wife, to avoid the terrifying demon, Orochi.
He reveals that his hammer was left behind during their escape from Orochi, and he can’t continue his work without it.
As his devoted fan, I’d journey back to the land of Jipang, venturing northward towards a specific residence in the region. Upon arrival, I’ll discover within, an essential item – a hammer – casually placed on the floor.
Note that the Forging Hammer only appears after defeating Baramos.
Ensure you’ve progressed far enough in the main story before moving on to this step.
Once you have the hammer, return to Kol to reunite the blacksmith with his lost tool.
With the acquisition of the Orichalcum, Broken Blade, and Forging Hammer, the blacksmith will rekindle his passion for his craft as a blacksmith once more.
He proposes repairing the Scepter of Monarchs as a token of gratitude for bringing back his lost tools and reinstating a sense of purpose in him again.
Following a brief interlude, the Sword of Kings regains its grandeur and is bestowed upon you, without any cost incurred.
