As a nostalgic 90’s and early 2000’s kid, hearing about Drake Bell‘s desire to reboot “Drake & Josh” is like striking gold! I can still remember the days when I would rush home from school to catch the latest episode of this hilarious show. The chemistry between Drake and Josh was simply unparalleled, and their unpredictable adventures never failed to make me laugh. If Nickelodeon decides to bring back this classic series, I’m pretty sure it will be a hit among fans like myself who are now all grown up (well, some of us).
Drake Bell wants to revisit his most popular role.
Lately, the actor paid a visit to the “Beyond the Velvet Rope” podcast, during which he expressed a wish to revive the “Drake & Josh” series alongside his Nickelodeon colleague Josh Peck at Nickelodeon.
Bell shared that she holds a very dear spot in her heart for the show Drake & Josh. She mentioned with delight the idea of revisiting her character and expressed a preference for working with Josh again, be it through a reboot or perhaps something similar to Curb Your Enthusiasm, where they would portray themselves while navigating modern life.
The vocalist, moreover, mentioned that he had a preconceived notion about what might cause Bell and Peck to team up again in the possible remake.
Perhaps I’m attempting to rekindle our relationship and he responds something like, ‘Dude, you’re being too persistent, leave me alone,'” he clarified. “I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I’d really enjoy collaborating with Josh in a sitcom similar to ‘Entourage’ or ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ someday.
Besides desiring to work again with the actor from Oppenheimer, Bell also aims to reunite with his other co-stars: Miranda Cosgrove, Nancy Sullivan, Jonathan Goldstein, Jerry Trainor, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alec Medlock, and Scott Halberstadt.
He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “It would be fantastic if we could get Crazy Steve, Helen, Craig, and Eric, as well as Audrey and Walter, and gather everyone together, including Megan.
Drake & Josh depict the lives of two teen stepbrothers, starkly contrasting personalities, who are compelled to share a roof when their parents get married. While navigating high school with distinct friend circles and individual goals, they encounter Megan – the mastermind behind many mischiefs and pranks. Their days are filled with unexpected events and comical escapades as they gradually learn to function as a family unit.
The series spanned from 2004 to 2007, resulting in two films titled “Drake & Josh Go Hollywood” and “Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh”, along with a TV special named “Really Big Shrimp”. Furthermore, it catapulted the careers of Bell, Peck, and Cosgrove.
Currently, Nickelodeon doesn’t have any immediate plans to restart the series. However, they’ve managed to achieve success by reviving shows that were hits in the early 2000s, such as “iCarly” featuring Cosgrove, “Zoey 101”, and “Good Burger”.
