The specifics of the storyline are being tightly guarded, but the movie is characterized as a lively, humorous journey set on an enchanted island deeply embedded in Filipino folklore, which has been hidden for ages.

Joel Crawford, known for his work on “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and “The Croods 2”, will be taking charge of both directing and writing the upcoming project alongside Januel Mercado. Mark Swift, a longtime collaborator of Crawford’s, will produce this venture. The dynamic duo had previously been recognized with numerous award nominations, including an Oscar nod, for their highly praised “Puss in Boots” sequel that graced movie screens in 2022.

Island Forgotten” signifies Mercado’s debut as sole director, following his co-directing credit on “Puss in Boots 2”. Prior to this, he served as the story lead for Crawford’s sequel, “The Croods 2”.

Under the guidance of Margie Cohn, DreamWorks Animation has been enjoying a string of victories with movies like “The Bad Guys” and “The Wild Robot”. The studio’s future lineup is promising too, featuring a live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon”, which was a standout at CinemaCon this month, as well as “The Bad Guys 2”, “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie”, “Shrek 5”, and the live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon 2”.
