Dune 3: Florence Pugh Returns as Princess Irulan

Actress Florence Pugh has affirmed that she will reprise her role as Princess Irulan Corrino in Dune: Part Three, also known as Dune Messiah. Filming is expected to start this summer. Given that her character takes a significant role in the second book of Frank Herbert’s influential sci-fi series, it seems she might have a larger part and more screen time in the upcoming third film directed by Denis Villeneuve. Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar, Pugh hinted at a potentially expanded role while expressing her hope for additional striking costumes, stating, “I’m hoping we see more of her – I want more fabulous outfits!

Princess Irulan, the eldest child of the cunning 81st Emperor Shaddam IV (portrayed by Christopher Walken in “Dune: Part Two”), and Anirul, a high-ranking Bene Gesserit, plays a significant role in the story. Initially seen as an observer, she becomes more involved in the plot when she consents to marry Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) at the end of the second film. This unexpected decision is part of a strategic plan to save her father’s life and paves the way for the events depicted in “Dune Messiah,” which serves as the foundation for the upcoming movie adaptation.
