EA FC 25: Everything new in Career Mode

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that EA Football Club 25 has truly caught my eye this year. With its revamped Career Mode, it seems like EA is finally giving us what we’ve been asking for all these years – flexibility and control.

As someone who has been playing Football Manager games since I was a teenager, I am thrilled about Electronic Arts’ (EA) announcement for FIFA 25. While Ultimate Team has always been a popular mode, I have often found myself drawn to Career Mode due to its depth and immersive experience. This year, EA seems to be focusing more on Career Mode, which is music to my ears as a long-time fan. The new additions they’ve promised look set to make the mode even more engaging and exciting, making it a must-play for me come release day.

Take a look at all the fresh arrivals right here, keeping yourself informed about the most recent updates and news.

Live Start Points let you drop in whenever

Among the thrilling novelties for Manager and Player Career modes, the standout addition is Live Start Points. Rather than beginning every time at the start of a season, this feature enables players to join the action from any gameweek during the 2024/2025 campaign.

As a long-time sports enthusiast who has followed my favorite teams through thick and thin, I find that the ability to rewrite history or continue a narrative is a captivating feature of many top leagues across genders. This flexibility allows me to tailor my sports experience to align with my personal preferences and desires, making each season more engaging and immersive. Whether it’s tweaking the trajectory of a struggling team or imagining an alternate reality for a victorious one, this aspect adds a level of control that greatly enhances the overall enjoyment of the sport for me.

As a seasoned football manager with years of experience under my belt, I can certainly empathize with the challenges you mentioned. Last season, I found myself in a similar predicament when my team was hit with a points deduction. It was a daunting task to dig them out of the relegation battle, but with perseverance, determination, and a well-crafted game plan, we managed to pull through.

Alex Constantinescu, the Lead Game Designer at EA FC, shares in an interview with GGRecon that players often have the feeling of being “armchair coaches,” thinking they could improve the game. Wilsdorf continues by saying that now, you can actually dive into that moment and try to prove if you can indeed make it better.

Additionally, you’ll find ‘Snapshots’, which connect to particular events noticed by EA throughout the season. These could be significant manager dismissals, major player transfers, and they can serve as an extra incentive for your enthusiasm when starting a fresh save.

FC IQ takes your tactics to the next level

The new FC IQ technology is particularly effective in Career Mode, enabling you to fully express your strategic skills as a manager or player. This updated system offers multiple tactical templates for you to utilize, enhancing the expression of your football philosophy and simplifying gameplay for beginners by providing pre-established strategies.

To back this up, we find it essential to highlight various Player Roles, which distinctly showcase diverse player abilities and off-the-ball strategies. These Player Roles are intrinsically connected with different tactical settings, implying that it’s no longer sufficient to focus on acquiring talented players; instead, you should aim for the appropriate ones as well.

Additionally, Career Mode offers a unique feature: customizing and developing your players by assigning them specific Player Roles, which strengthens their abilities for their designated roles. For instance, EA provides the example of hiring a Tiki Taka specialist coach to boost the Deep Lying Playmaker Player Role, but you can explore numerous other options as well.

Women’s football comes to Career Mode

For the first time ever you’ll also be able to dive into the world of women’s football either as a manager or as a player in Career Mode. There are five officially licensed leagues to choose from, including the Barclays WSL, D1 Féminine, the NWSL, Frauen-Bundesliga, and Liga F, alongside the Women’s Champions League too.

Fortunately, it encompasses all the terrific elements found in the men’s model, making no concessions and instead delivering a genuine representation of the rapidly expanding realm of women’s football.

Customisation to the max

As someone who has navigated through countless iterations and updates over the years, I can confidently say that this year, more power than ever is being placed in our hands to shape our experiences. The addition of new customization features has opened up a world of possibilities for tailoring my interactions in a way that truly resonates with me, allowing for a level of personalization that I’ve never before encountered. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-evolving landscape!

While this does include in-game difficulty settings of course, with ‘Realistic’ allowing you to emulate the feeling of real-life football, and ‘Classic’ giving you the rush of classic arcade-esque gameplay, the real highlight is in the features that tweak the experience off the pitch.

As a seasoned negotiator with years of experience under my belt, I find myself drawn to the thrill of testing my skills in transfer negotiations. The prospect of manipulating the difficulty level, from easy-breezy to nail-biting intense, is a challenge that excites me.

If tension doesn’t suit your preference, there are other aspects designed to enhance relaxation in your club. For instance, a benefactor might have recently taken over, players might progress at an accelerated pace, and dismissal from the team could become impossible!

Essentially, it boils down to providing more autonomy to the user, enabling them to fine-tune their gameplay and craft a customized, ideal saving scenario.

Icons arrive in Career Mode

As a devoted gamer, what truly gets me pumped about Career Mode this year is the addition of Icons to the gameplay experience. If you’ve dabbled in Ultimate Team before, you’ll likely recognize these legendary figures. They represent some of the greatest players who have hung up their boots and graced the field, immortalized within the game.

Cards representing well-known soccer stars such as Pelé, Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), Zidane, among others, embody their unique legacies. Now, you have the opportunity to immerse yourself and create your personal career in a Player Career mode.

You have two options: Join an Icon at the pinnacle of their success, reigning supreme on the global stage, or embark on a journey with them from the beginning through the Origin Stories pathway. Not all Icons will be accessible simultaneously, but they’ll be swapped and refreshed throughout the game to offer fresh and distinctive experiences for players.
