Echoes of Wisdom just got 100 times cuter thanks to horses

As a lifelong Zelda enthusiast who has spent countless hours exploring Hyrule across various iterations of the beloved franchise, I am absolutely thrilled about The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and its adorable horses! Growing up, my favorite moments were always those where I could gallop through open fields or ride majestically over bridges on Epona. Now, it seems that Nintendo has heard the collective cry of fans like myself and decided to give us even more equine adventure!

When you thought The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom couldn’t become any more endearing, Nintendo has managed to add an extra dose of charm with delightful horses galloping around Hyrule. Already, our anticipation for this game, which features a fully-playable Zelda, is high; but the inclusion of these equine companions has sealed the deal for us.

In June’s Nintendo Direct, the trailer for Echoes of Wisdom was a standout moment, and since it releases in September, the wait won’t be much longer. If you enjoyed the toy-like aesthetic of Link’s Awakening, then perhaps Echoes of Wisdom is the game that catches your interest. So, let’s get ready to play!

In a fresh exploratory video, Nintendo explains various movement techniques found in Echoes of Wisdom. It’s worth noting that Zelda’s copying ability will be useful during this exploration. The video takes us on a journey through diverse environments, including the Gerudo Desert and Eldin Volcano. However, there’s an important question: What about the horses?

Besides navigating using travel points, you also have the option to mount your reliable steed. Unlike the specific horse similar to Ocarina of Time’s Epona, it appears that any horse from Hyrule will do. You can summon horses, as long as Zelda has mastered the skill to make a carrot whistle.

Instead of merely appreciating the beautiful landscape while riding a horse, you can trample minor adversaries with your equine companion and clear small hurdles. One enthusiast gushed, “That’s simply charming!” Another commented, “Zelda on horse amiibo,” and a third playfully exclaimed, “Sounds like screaming from a horse!”

Based on our observations, Echoes seems to offer a closer, more personal experience compared to Tears of the Kingdom. It appears to provide an extensive, bird’s-eye view of adventure that this world has not previously explored. And remember, by September 25, be sure you’ve taken some riding lessons!
