Ed Sheeran is getting ready for the launch of his upcoming album called “Play” by sharing its newest track titled “Old Phone.
On Thursday, the four-time Grammy Award recipient revealed that his upcoming album is set to drop on September 12th. To mark this special event, he unveiled the second track from the project as well.
Ed Sheeran revealed the source of inspiration for his album “Play” in an Instagram post, confessing it was an album produced as a direct response to the most challenging phase of his life. This experience motivated him to create happiness and vibrancy, and delve into various cultures while touring, during the production process.
He penned that this album was created across various global locations, completed in Goa, India, and provided some of the most adventurous, joyful creative experiences of his lifetime. He described it as an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish, capturing everything he adores about music, its fun aspect, but also reflecting where he stands at this point in life as a human, a partner, and a parent.

Nearly a month before its release, Ed Sheeran unveiled “Azizam,” the first single off his upcoming album, which was crafted by Ilyah Salmanzadeh, who has collaborated with artists such as Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, and Tate McRae.
