- It lights up!
As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Edifier G5 BT has truly impressed me. With its sleek design and gaming-oriented features, it immediately caught my eye. The blue LED lights around the headset are a nice touch, adding an extra layer of immersion to my gaming sessions.
When I came across the Edifier G5BT, given that Edifier is renowned for its high-quality speakers and headphones, I had certain preconceived notions about the product. Since this gaming headset can be connected via Bluetooth, it’s versatile enough to work with smartphones and other mobile devices, which prompted me to give it a try immediately.
Considering the Edifier G5 BT, it seems its design is tailored for gaming enthusiasts. The blue LED illumination surrounding it, the foldable structure allowing easy storage, and the metallic accents all hint at this.
1) The whole setup seems top-notch, and it comes with an adjustable microphone perfect for chatting during gaming sessions with friends. You’ll notice several controls located near the left earpiece – power, volume control, song skipping, and a quick mute function for your headset. On the right earcup, you’ll find buttons to manage lighting effects and switch between different modes for the headset itself.
Sound Modes
This pair of headphones from Edifier, the G5 BT, offers two distinct modes: Music and Gaming. Normally, I use a single set of headphones for both gaming and music. I didn’t expect to notice much difference or preference with this model. However, I found that these settings do indeed feel unique.
Activating Gaming mode instantly enhances the subtler, intricate sounds within your game, giving them a more leveled-out quality that brings out even the tiniest details for an immersive gaming experience. Conversely, Music mode offers a more dynamic sound profile that emphasizes music, making it simple to discern their differences and adjust your headset accordingly.
The gaming mode of the headset offers a 45ms latency chip, which is meant to give better reactivity to the game that you are seeing – it’s a big plus too!
The Microphone
Different individuals have varying tastes regarding microphones. For those who seldom converse, keeping the microphone within a headset might be preferable due to its convenience. However, when the microphone is extended, it can feel somewhat flimsy. Additionally, there’s no soundproofing, as there’s no pop filter. Despite this, the sound quality is satisfactory, provided the environment isn’t excessively noisy or chaotic.
Battery Life
With all wireless headsets, I often look at battery life. Maybe it’s because I come from a time of not having to charge every single thing in my home or maybe it’s just because I want to know how long I have. The battery in the Edifier G5 BT has about 40 hours without the lights on, when fully charged. With the lights on, however, it’s going to set you back to 17 hours. This feels like a short amount of time to have in exchange for some blue lights – but if you like that aesthetic and are good at remembering to charge your device, maybe it’s fine!
