One standout feature of Elden Ring: Nightreign is its vast array of unique character classes, numbering eight in total. Each of these characters, known as Nightfarers in Nightreign, boasts a distinct set of skills, initial weapons, proficiencies, and a visually striking design. While they may appear to be typical fantasy RPG characters such as barbarians or sorcerers, each Nightfarer possesses at least one unexpected twist in their repertoire.
For instance, let’s consider the character named “Nightreign Recluse” from Elden Ring. At first glance, she may seem like an ordinary Soulslike sorceress, but her unique ability called “Magic Cocktail” enables her to harness the magical energy of adversaries and retaliate with a potent counterattack. It’s been confirmed by FromSoftware that Elden Ring will receive DLC this year, and while the starting roster is already impressive, it could become even more formidable with some additional Nightfarers added to the mix.
Nightfarer Classes That Should Be Added with Elden Ring Nightreign DLC
An Even More Experimental Magic-User
The character known as the Recluse in Elden Ring: Nightreign does an excellent job of deviating from FromSoft’s typical sorcerer mold. While she can cast spells from her staff like other sorcerers, her Magic Cocktail skill adds a level of complexity not previously seen in FromSoft games. It would be intriguing to see Elden Ring: Nightreign introduce another innovative magic-user character. For instance, a pyromancer who draws fire energy from defeated enemies or a Nightfarer who exclusively employs Frenzied Flame attacks could both make thrilling additions to the roster.
A Support-Focused Nightfarer
Following a related idea, it might be exciting to introduce a Nightfarer character with a focus on support to the Roundtable Hold. Unlike the Recluse, who uses their Ultimate Art to let allies heal themselves by striking marked foes, this Nightfarer would specialize in healing and shielding their team. For example, they could be a cleric-type character whose basic ability is an area-of-effect healing spell, and whose ultimate skill would create a protective shield for allies, nullifying incoming damage for a brief period.
A Bloodborne-Like Hunter
In the game Elden Ring: Nightreign, there are numerous references to the Dark Souls trilogy. However, Bloodborne seems to be overlooked once again, possibly because it’s owned by Sony. It’s disappointing to see one of FromSoftware’s top games not getting as much attention, but there’s still a chance for a subtle nod or even a DLC character inspired by Bloodborne, known as Nightfarer.
Despite the fact that Nightreign currently features the Duchess, whose combat style involves occasional strikes and swift evasions, there’s potential for an additional character known as the Nightfarer. This character, drawing inspiration from Bloodborne, might carry a mysterious weapon with unique tricks, such as a magical gun in one hand. This would enable players to knock back enemies, making them susceptible to critical attacks.
A Wretch
In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, The Guardian and Raider serve as the heavy-hitting tanks. However, there’s still an opening for a character with high damage output but low durability, often referred to as a “glass cannon.”
Since 2011’s Dark Souls, many FromSoft action-RPGs have introduced a class that starts with a large club and a lot of strength. The Deprived from Dark Souls and the Wretch in Elden Ring could potentially form the base for a similar class in Nightreign. This character would have low health but could deal an incredibly high amount of damage.
