Regarding the PS5 Pro, it’s noteworthy that Elden Ring Nightreign seems to offer no enhancements or unique features, which might raise some concerns about future cross-gen titles.
Although games must function on Sony’s high-performance hardware, developers are not forced to utilize the extra power available. It’s uncommon for significant games to neglect support for the platform – even Microsoft designs its titles with the console in mind.
However, FromSoftware operates independently, and as per Digital Foundry’s report, it seems they have chosen not to update their games to take advantage of enhanced hardware specifications at all.
Currently, when you’re using the PlayStation 5 Pro, you’ll enjoy certain benefits over the standard PS5 model. This is primarily due to the enhanced processing power of the system. For instance, in Frame Rate mode, games typically maintain higher resolutions than on regular consoles since it has a bit more power to handle the visual demands.
In Quality mode, the title generally has a somewhat better overall frame rate compared to other settings. However, neither mode manages to consistently stay at 60 frames per second on any console, resulting in a rather disorganized experience.
Through their extensive collection of games, FromSoftware has built a reputation for offering an imperfect technical performance. It’s concerning that they seem to be disregarding the PlayStation 5 Pro entirely, leaving us to ponder if other developers might follow suit and neglect the hardware in the future.
