Elizabeth Debicki on Why She Thinks ‘The Crown’ “Ended in the Right Place” With Season 6

As a devoted fan who has witnessed Elizabeth Debicki‘s mesmerizing portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown, I wholeheartedly concur with her sentiments. It truly feels that the series ended at the right time, honoring its own cycle and respecting the weight of its historical significance.

Elizabeth Debicki feels The Crown “ended in the right place” with season six.

The actress, who played Princess Diana in the Emmy-winning Netflix show, has shared with People magazine that she feels there’s no need for further seasons of the series.

“Debicki commented that it seemed fitting where it concluded, and he felt it stayed true to its own course or development.”

“Peter Morgan’s series, titled ‘The Crown’, delved into the political conflicts and love stories that marked Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and significantly influenced Britain during the latter half of the 20th century. This show aired from 2016 until 2023.”

The actress from MaXXXine noted that the storyline seemed to have a clear direction and, moreover, it appeared as if the character itself was aware of its destination. She found it quite subtle, but poignant. Peter did an exceptional job concluding such a vast narrative arc. I’m not particularly fond of using the term ‘journey,’ but this was a significant emotional ride for viewers to experience. When you invest six seasons into a series, you expect a satisfying conclusion.

Starting from Season Five, Debicki replaced Emma Corrin as she portrayed the character of Princess Diana’s mother. Previously, Corrin had played the role of young Diana in Season Four. The subsequent two seasons focused on the tragic events leading up to Princess Diana’s fatal car accident in August 1997.

“The actress commented that the final season was incredibly respectful and complex, with discussions about wrapping up the series being particularly deep and skillfully handled. She added that every actor’s performance in this season was exceptional, even though she may be biased due to her connection to the show, she believes they all did outstanding work.”

Debicki was nominated for two Emmys in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in ‘The Crown’, with nominations for both the 2023 and 2024 Emmy Awards, to be held on September 15.
