In response to Elon Musk, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has criticized him for allegedly spreading false information and misleading statements about one of the UK’s high-ranking ministers.
Recently, Elon Musk has been expressing political views that align with those of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage of Reform U.K. (whom he later disavowed), and the far-right AfD party in Germany.
Lately, the billionaire owner of social media platform X has been propagating conspiracy theories and making inflammatory statements on the site. He has called for the imprisonment of Jess Phillips, a minister responsible for safeguarding under Starmer’s leadership, labeling her as an “apologist for rape genocide”. Additionally, he has criticized Starmer for not pursuing prosecutions against child grooming gangs during his tenure as director of public prosecutions from 2008 to 2013. The founder of SpaceX is also included in this criticism.
On Monday, Starmer was queried about Musk’s conduct, yet he chose not to directly refer to him. Instead, he stated, “Jess [Phillips] doesn’t require me or anyone else to voice her views, but when the harmful actions of the extreme right result in severe threats against Jess Phillips and others, I believe a clear boundary has been overstepped.
Starmer emphasized, “I’m ready to label this for what it truly represents.” He has been facing pressure to respond, and he stated that those who are spreading falsehoods and misinformation indiscriminately – their primary concern is not the victims, but themselves.
He further added that the recent focus on child grooming gangs is merely a tactic to stir up intimidation and threats of violence, with the expectation that the media will amplify it.
Phillips declined a proposal for the administration to conduct an investigation into child sexual abuse incidents in Oldham, England, prompting Starmer to remark: “Child sexual abuse is truly appalling. Regrettably, for far too long, numerous victims have been tragically neglected.
He stated that Phillips exceeded expectations by approximately 1,000 times in terms of shielding victims of sexual abuse, and he also upheld his personal track record by addressing the matter directly when serving as Public Prosecutions Director.
Elon Musk urged the leader of the Labour Party to serve prison time due to the handling of child grooming groups, by posing a ‘yes or no’ question on platform X, with the comment: “It’s time for America to free the people of Britain from their oppressive government.
With Trump’s potential return to the White House approaching, Elon Musk has been appointed to head the newly created Department of Streamlined Government Operations.
